We are a new company that will be making and selling chocolates under the business name ‘Lush Chocolates’. We need: (1) a logo for our new business, (2) a design for our product packaging.

More details are contained in the attachment so you should treat the information here as a summary of our requirements.

1. Business logo:

This should include the business name ‘Lush Chocolates’. The logo should look upmarket and be a strong simple image, nothing too fancy. We like gold lettering on dark chocolate colours but are open to looking at new ideas. We would like to emphasize the letter ‘L’ in the logo but if you come up with a great idea that is different, we are happy to consider that too.

2. Product packaging:

The first product we sell will be packaged in a box like the one shown in the attachment. We are including this is so you can think about how the logo and other messaging might be incorporated into the first product we sell. We want to you to design the product packaging which means show us how and where the logo and product name and other key messages will be displayed on the box enclosed. See enclosed for further details.

Target market:

The sort of person we will be selling to will likely be female, 25-50 years old, married with kids. She will be educated, middle to upper class and well educated. She will be fussy and like things which are stylish or a bit unusual.

Required:

For this contest, please show an example of the logo and package design from different angles. We will provide feedback which will lead to selection of the winner. We will also need you to assign the IP rights in the logo and packaging design as part of this contest.

Hi all, the contest is well advanced so we want to give everyone here very clear feedback on what we like and some variations we would like to see. So far our preferred design is #28 , the font style is simple and different to other designs we have seen in the market. We like a number of the designs posted here but they are similar to existing logos or just don't stand out from the crowd.

We would be happy to see a font style like 28 with some variations. Eg. how about different font color like metallic gold with a distinctive border? (straight line or swirls or even fancy pattern like you see in the border of the Versace logo). Would underlining work? How about we add a logo like the example I've just uploaded? Could 'Lush' be in a larger font?

We must keep the number of colors to a minimum to reduce manufacturing costs. To give a bit more time, I'm extending the contest a few more days. Thanks for your efforts so far, we appreciate it.

Comments continued:
(3) a couple of the images involve chocolate lettering like it has been dribbled onto a piece of paper and this sparked one interesting feedback. Someone said how about an image where someone has just finished writing the word 'Lush' using dribbled chocolate onto a gold bar and the lettering is polished and obviously dark chocolate like it has just been poured. The word chocolate could appear in either the same or different lettering nearby. (4) some of the submissions are great but won't work well on the small packaging. Hi all, I have rated the entries now. Thank you for your submissions, there are some very good ones here. Now for the comments. (1) some of the entries are just too close to existing logos. We don't want to run into legal problems here (ie. breach of copyright, passing off) so we can't go with them. (2) We did a straw poll of our target market and the general feeling was that the logos generally are similar to other chocolate logos in use already. They were asking for originality in the logo & a strong image, ideally something that hasn't really been done before. Could some of the images be done in a pop-art style or even french provincial? Not sure what this exactly involves but I will put it out there.
