Contest Brief

We are looking for creative people to work with us in a projection mapping project, that’s taking a place on on an open theater during singing festival, were we are going to project on the decoration as well as on a backdrop.

The place: out door theater (custom made, still under construction, Decoration 3D is attached)
The event: SONG FESTIVAL where 15 singers will come on stage to sing their own songs
Opening date: the 17th of January

Requirements:

- One minute loop video to be projected on the decoration:
Advanced creative animation (3D, 2D, animation, motion graphics … feel free)
Final submission should be double size of the 4K = (8192 pixels X 4320 pixels)

- One minute loop video to be projected on the Backdrop:
Advanced creative animation (3D, 2D, animation, motion graphics … feel free) that goes along with the previous video
Final submission should be 4K = (4096 pixels X 2160 pixels)

- One minute loop video for the general view:
To combine both videos in one file for preview
Final submission could be HD

- “3D” a folder that has recent 3D files
- “Expected Final Resaults” folder, is what we expect and nothing less
- "FAQ.rtf" a file to be updated later with the answers of your questions, or the information we might have forgotten to give
- “Front View Wireframe with dimentions.jpg” basically so you can see the size of the decoration
- “Front View” to explain better about the front view
- “Full Floor Plan.dwg” Auto-cad file with the elements inside
- “Full Floor Plan.pdf” The full site with dimensions
- “Perspective” folder that has rendered images of the decoration
- “Sample.mp4” video sample of how your general view should look like, KEEP IN MIND: such a simple result without creativity will SURE make you REJECTED
- “Site PDFs” a folder for more information about the stage
- “Videos” a folder contain the basic videos you can work on
More files and updates will be added later…

Whats expected for now is the general video with your animation
If you were awarded, a decoration projection video & backdrop projection video are expected in order to release you USD 500

Please note:
- Final calibration and final 3D is to be given later
- There could be up to 15 winner entries, each for USD 500
- Quicker approved entries will give a chance to make another entry, and you can earn up to USD 7,500 in this project
- Contest timing could be extended for creative people
- Think before you work, this project is strictly for creativity, If you don’t have good idea don’t bother and work
- All the files uploaded here or in the dropbox folder are subject for copyright

Hi, I am a media design student, I am working on your brief, just wanted to check a few things, can you tell me what kind of music will be played during the event, it is important as it will decide the animations speed and mood, secondly is there a perticuler style that you are looking for, if you can give me 2-3 keywords that you want the final design to look like, that will be helpful. I think this project would be way more interesting if you used projection mapping for each individual line, through software like Resolume or Modul8 broadcasting through Madmapper. I will create some 3D files non the less.

Hi the video has to be captured from the same hieght position as the projector will be can you submit diagram of that position

  I suggest you dont bother yourself with projectors complex, as there will be 6 projectors located in different places in the venue.
  Basically you do the video from the very front view and we will divide it between the projectors, calibrate it, and mask it later later.
