We are looking for an awesome graphic artist/designer to pick one of the character options below and draw/design/illustrate the best character design possible using these options as inspiration.

This artwork needs to include a full body character and a background scene to fill the art space. Art space is narrow and tall. The main scene where the character needs to be located is smaller and has a specific offset from the top or bottom of the overall art space.

File Format: Illustrator (.ai) or high quality, 300 dpi Photoshop (.psd)
Overall art space: 485mm W x 745mm H
Primary art space: 215mm W x 745mm H
Character space: 195mm W x 350mm H
- offset 155mm from the top OR offset 155mm from the bottom

You have blank canvas to design something that is just awesome. We have a design goal in mind but its hard to put this goal into words so I will do my best to show you what we we like. Here are some examples of artwork we like. DO NOT STEAL ARTWORK!

That is a lot of examples. Be creative! WoW us and do something awesome.

Its important that the overall artwork portrays something fun/cool/exciting. It needs to be clean and detailed. It can’t be too cluttered or too small. Bright colors are important. This is going to be printed so the color pallet needs to be CMYK compatible. It needs to kind of "wow" potential customers. A customer would say to themselves "wow that looks cool, let’s get that one there". Does that make sense?

We want to give you freedom to be creative. Use the example and create your own character and background to go with it.

All selected/winning artwork will have its full rights transferred to us upon final payment and completion of this project.

Failure to fully read and submit artwork that fits the requirements will get rejected.

I appreciate everyone taking time to submit artwork.

I'm going to be honest... Most of the entries so far are not even close to what we are looking for. Most submissions are just what ever you want to draw and lack any of the elements included in the examples. I want you to have freedom to be creative but if you do not do something to match a style of one of the examples, you are wasting your time.

Look at the examples I gave in the description. They are strong, tough, god like, or cool gamer themed. Each character in each artwork is in a striking, strong pose. The artworks portray a message, a feeling. Most of the entries are lacking this. We have to have something that matches the styling and feeling of the examples I provided.

Is it okay to do the artwork (background, specifically) based on a photo (not stock, it's a photo I've taken myself)?

  this would be ok if you plan to use this image as guide to draw the background. what I mean is, I don't want a photo for the background and then a character drawn on top of it. This does not look good to me. Both elements need to be drawn so that its one art piece, not two.

  Monika, if you want to start with a sketch, this is fine. it needs to fit what we are asking for. An initial sketch would be a great start and save from wasting time coloring something that we're not on the same page on. Just be clear though the sketch will not win the contest. It needs to be a finished artwork.
