Contest Brief
Illustrator to finish "A Children's Guide To Good Posture". This 30 page rhyming book is approximately 80% or more finished. This includes 28 pages that are on the average 90% completed needing minor changes and possible color adjustments and 2 pages yet to be started. This artist must be able to draw my existing characters to specified instructions and at the same time, add their own creative flare.
My previous illustrator was talented being able to draw very well the vision I would give him for each page. Unfortunately he fell off the radar and after many attempts from myself and freelancer.com, he is not to be found. I wish him well as this young man was always very prompt in corresponding with me.
Attachment pg24 v1 is our first version of page 24 already started by my previous illustrator. The figures above the drawings are the positions I instructed my boys to be drawn in and this was his first rendition sent back to me. In turn the pink lines were drawn by myself instructing to take the arm under the pillow in the top left figure and cross it in front of him on top of his left arm. The instructions for the top right figure was to straighten out the bottom leg and have more of a bent to the top leg. The figure on the bottom left was completed. The figure on the bottom right needs his top leg to be straight and his bottom leg to be bent more. Finally, his face looking towards the reader and not looking up like drawing.
The boys need to be in beds like the attachment of already finished page 2 using the same colors as seen and as many or little of the objects on that page you would like to include in your rendition. The two pictures on the left are of Simon who always appears in the book with good posture and wears a red stripped shirt and the pictures on the right are of Stevie who always appears with bad posture in the book and wears the blue stripped shirt. So make sure the boys are differentiated by having the red shirt on the bed post and the blue shirt on the floor so not to confuse the reader.
Lastly, be sure to include the green and red lines showing the angle of these four postures. Red of course being bad and green being good posture. You may accentuate the twisting of Stevie for better recognition of bad posture if you like.
The illustrator gets full illustration credits on the cover of the book, 10 copies sent to their address (more copies if you would like at cost) and first rights to the illustration of one more book. This first one being for elementary children, the second for middle school and a possible third book for high school kids.
The winner will receive $310 USD to complete the book along with the $90.00 USD for this contest.
I ATTACHED 4 MORE ALREADY FINISHED PAGES TO SHOW YOU THE BOYS LOOK AND FEEL.
