Contest Brief
We are a small arts/social change organization serving disadvantaged youth wanting to mobilize community members to visit our website where we want them to (1) Contact local representatives to encourage them to continue funding us (our funding currently hangs in the balance) and (2) Make an end-of-year donation
In order to accomplish this, we need a 2-sided post-card designed according to the following specs:
Full Bleed Size (starting document size)=5.59" x 4.33" (142 x 110 mm or 1677 x 1300 pixels) * Finished artwork should use the full bleed dimensions for best results.
Document Trim Size (final size after being cut)=5.47" x 4.21" (139 x 107 mm or 1642 x 1264 pixels)* Please be sure to keep all text within the safe margin.
Resolution=300 DPI
Design Guidelines
More than anything, we want this post-card to be incredibly compelling, and the most compelling design will win (ie. you don't have to stick to our copy if you have something better in mind and PLEASE come up with a creative visual presentation ~ replicas of our sample will be deleted). You can do full color, or a combination of black and white or full color... whatever you think will look the best/get people to act!
The front of the card will say something like:
(Big and Bold Headline ~ feel free to play with this language) Take 5 Minutes For Boulder County's Most Underserved Youth
and some kind of infographic (we like when it's actually little people with one colored in) saying:
1 in 3 Lafayette youth qualify for free and reduced lunch
1 in 2 Boulder County teens lacks emotional support
(we might add a couple more stats in the next day or so, so leaving space for another line or two would be good)
The back of the card will leave room on the right for postal information and say something like:
(big and bold along the top)
For 20 years, Project YES has empowered thousands of underserved Boulder County youth
Help us keep the legacy alive by contacting your local representatives
(Smaller on the left)
Lafayette and Boulder County representatives are currently deciding how to allocate youth-services funding in 2015, and it's essential these funds go to support the youth we serve!
Tell your elected officials just how vital Project YES programs are to the community.
Visit www.Project-YES.org/support for details about contacting your representatives and other ways you can help!
(bold/heading) About Project YES (please include the icon like it is in the sample between Project and YES)
Since 1994, Project YES has been the lead youth services agency for East Boulder County’s diverse K-12 youth offering FREE empowerment programs integrating the arts & service learning.
In 2014, we expanded our offerings to include psychosocial and career training elements in addition to our unique art and service-based leadership programs, as well as moving to a new youth center space in Old Town Lafayette. Please visit our website www.Project-YES.org/support to help us keep the momentum going!
Then on the bottom right, please include a little something that says:
Considering making an end-of-year donation?

“ I was happy with the effort and ultimately with the final product. However, I had to wait a week to get an acceptable file and there were still problems like typos and missing punctuation.”
