Attached is a pen and ink drawing of a tree, I now want some colour added to the image. When finished, this coloured image is to be printed as a greetings card. I have no fixed ideas on the type of colouring, whether a watercolour wash, or detailed colouring, bright or muted. A background should be added that refers to the text below, but coffins should be avoided.

The tree however must stand out from the background

The Malevolent Elm
I likes to be left alone. The axe I hate and not easy split am I. If kings and realms need defence, a longbow I will spare you ; though more reluctantly than that old lapdog Yew. On the hearth, I burns like churchyard mould - even my very flames are cold. I doesn't mind the wet so's they use me for ships' keels and the gates of locks. But most likely, you will know me longest when your eyes are closed – it's me that's first choice for a coffin. Sometimes I'll fill the coffin meself; that's why they's call me "the widow maker". You heard them? Sometimes, when the mood's upon me, I might drop a branch. Crack! Like a spoon upon an egg.

Also attached is a sketch of the leaves, I do not want this image on the card, but would like the shape of the leaves represented in some way on the card.

I will need the final drawing in a layered format such as a .psd file as I may with to make slight amendments to the text.
I do not want borders, unless your design incorporates an artistic border. 3D views of the finished design will not influence my decisions.
I will always add comments if I feel they will be constructive, this does not mean I have decided to go with your design, but I always rate every submission.

Image size: 183mm x 131.5mm (landscape)
This is 1.5mm bleed at top, 3mm bleed sides and bottom.
this gives a finished card size of 176mm x 127mm
Text and important detail should be another 5mm in.

Attached is a template the finished card should be fitted into. Please don't submit entries with the template, but rather just the drawing. I would however like the drawing to be added to the template on the winning entry.

Also attached is my preferred font.
