It is hard to go with the 'salt of nights" when this is a previously printed piece and the new title skews the meaning. I like your translation. Could you offer up another title that doesn't go into a literal meaning but also keeps it's poetic voice?

I selected this title riffing off the metaphor of 'salting the wounds' her 'claws' had left on him during lovemaking. It represents that each night he reviews these scars, these imprints, and cultivates them into having more and more meaning. I thought this was related enough to the topic while not diverging too far from the image created when thinking about the accumulation of the "scum of nights" which, frankly, I think sounds quite crude in English.
