  Hello everyone! I just wanted to update all of you on the progress of the USB flash drive. I sent the designs in to be manufactured. I thought I would share with you all updates about flash drives that I have just learned. Apparently, most all flash drives do not use circuit boards anymore. They all use memory chips instead. They are small and are smooth on both sides. If I could show you a photo in my brief I would but I can't because the contest is closed. This is just a heads up. Perhaps the next time around you might want to ask if the flash drives uses circuit boards or memory chips. I now know. Thank you all once again!

     Snb, I am sorry about not understanding about memory chips! I know you mentioned it but I did not know what they were. Circuit boards are not used anymore. I wish I could post a pic of a memory chip on this board but I can't as the contest has closed. Like I said, Snb, you were the most helpful. I just wish I knew more than I did. The factory in China making the flash drives made its own blueprints from the one I provided. It is nothing compared to what you all have done.

  There is one more person I am absolutely in love with: guar973! His work was awesome. I am still amazed with his illustration entry #26 . I am hoping and crossing my fingers that, together with Victor's and Guar's illustration, I will get the design to look exactly like theirs. Thank you, Guar!

  I wish I could award the prize to three people; specifically to Victor, Snb, and hecto. You all did a superlative job. The kindness and knowledge that Snb gave to me was amazing! Hecto was like Picasso, always improvising and making me think outside the box. I wish I could give you all tons of money but, alas, I am still a restaurant worker trying to make my photography business legitimate. You all deserve far more than this prize. In the end, the winner is Victor. His illustration was clean, simple, and elegant. So is his blueprint. Guys, I hope I can work with you all again in the future. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  Maybe USB 3.0 has a smaller circuit board than 2.0? This way I can make more of the steel flash drive solid?

     Thank you for your weight analysis. Entry #49 adds more weight but changes the look entirely. It is no longer the simple slab of metal I'm looking for. Does the circuit board go all the way into the back of the flash drive on your other designs? Is there a way to make the back end solid?

  Guys, How about just making the blunt end of the USB flash drive solid stainless steel all the way throughout? If there was a way to incorporate this into your designs, I would be grateful. Thank you.

  Guys! I've got less than 2 days to make my final decision. There are three people at the top of my list. Thank you all for your help. I am pretty much down to the last criteria: How to make this HEAVY! Make it heavy and you are the winner. Apparently, make it heavy by make the blunt end more solid. The question is: Will the electronics fit inside?

     I find most of the designs are similar in size, if you want it to be heavy, only the use of heavy metals. can surface plating layer of metal (aluminum scratched to high-end products and luxury)

     Thank you, Guar, for the reply. Aluminum? It is lighter than steel. Sure, I can request platinum but it is not economically feasible. There has got to be a way to make this stainless steel flash drive heavier. I just don't know how?

  I guess there needs to be some clarification to the text size. Ideally, there should be the same amount of negative space on all side of the logo. The logo must be centered. The negative space should be the same at the top, bottom, left, and right sides. Thanks.

     Incorporated all design changes. ...the logo centered and enlarged( more then this will not feel/look good by study of other USB's and here 6 mm space left on both side of the Logo).

  Guys, The logo needs to be enlarged in almost all of the designs. Remember, a flash drive is small the the text must be readable. Also, the text must be centered on the flash drive in the illustration AND also in the diagrammatic. Thanks.

     Cad files are used for exact dimensions, to create molds or to create cnc programs, but they are not necessary, in somes cases pdf files with especifications is the necessary. Regards,

  Another issue has arisen: For the top three designs, I have a question; "Do your dimensions match all USB flash drive standards?" ... meaning, will these USB's slide smoothly into, both, Mac's and P.C.'s?
