We are looking for a CAD designer to create a 3D-printable mold for a flat, coin-shaped lollipop. This is a small prototype project for a student startup. Lollipop mold: - Flat, circular/coin-shaped lollipop - Diameter: 1 inch (25.4 mm) - Thickness: 8 mm - The goal is to maximize the number of lollipop cavities that can fit within our printer’s 180 x 180 x 180 mm build volume. - We are currently considering a two-row layout so that there is enough access between the cavities to insert the lollipop sticks while the mixture is setting. We are open to other layouts if they can fit more cavities while still providing enough access to insert and position the sticks properly. - The mold should be designed as a practical casting mold with suitable wall thickness, spacing, and geometry for easy filling and removal of the finished lollipops. - The mold does not need to be fully enclosed or use a two-part design. An open-top mold is preferred if practical, as this would simplify filling and casting. The designer can recommend the simplest mold geometry that will allow the lollipops to be cast cleanly while maintaining the required shape and stick positioning. Stick opening and internal features: The lollipop stick is a hollow tube with: - 6 mm outer diameter - 4 mm inner diameter The stick will not be part of the mold. The mold should include an appropriate opening for the stick to enter the lollipop cavity (6 mm diameter). The stick will extend 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) into the lollipop. We would like the mold to incorporate 4 mm diameter tunnels/protrusions that create channels through the finished lollipop and lead directly into the hollow portion of the stick. The tunnels can be 4 mm in diameter throughout. They can begin from the flat side of the mold and extend at an angle toward the stick opening, then transition into a straight section aligned with the hollow stick. The 4 mm section should fit inside the stick’s 4 mm ID and act as a plug, preventing lollipop mixture from entering the hollow interior. The transition where the angled 4 mm tunnel meets the straight section can also act as a physical stopping point for the 6 mm OD stick, ensuring that the stick consistently extends approximately 1/4 inch into the lollipop. The exact geometry can be proposed by the CAD designer, as long as the design: - Keeps the stick positioned at approximately 1/4 inch depth - Works with the 6 mm OD / 4 mm ID hollow stick - Creates the required openings/channels in the finished lollipop - Remains practical for 3D printing and casting 3D printing The mold will be 3D printed using: - Build volume: 180 x 180 x 180 mm - Nozzle: E3D V6 stainless steel nozzle - Filament: PETG Deliverables We need a print-ready CAD model, preferably including: - Editable native CAD file - STL file(s) - Final mold design optimized to fit as many lollipop cavities as reasonably possible within the 180 x 180 mm build area We are looking for a fixed-price commission and would ideally like the design completed by Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
