Any gag that only works with a real face on camera needs a performer found separately, and I will say which is which rather than animate something that wanted an actor. On the work itself: the edit is not what makes a reel land. The writing is. A situational gag has to establish the normal thing in about three seconds, break it once, and stop - and most reels die because the setup takes eight seconds and the punchline arrives after the audience has already swiped. So I would work the scripts first and hard, in a batch. Rough ideas in, tight scripts out, and you approve the writing before a single frame is made. That is where your money goes furthest and where changes cost nothing. Then production per approved script: animation in the style that suits the joke, captions timed to the beat rather than auto-generated and left, sound effects and a music sting on the turn, exported vertical at 1080 by 1920 and compressed for upload.
