We want to put an energy calculator into our website that is being developed using Wordpress.
This electricity calculator will help the visitors to our website calculate the amount of energy they would expect to use in their house, how much prices changes could cost them and how big their carbon footprint is.
It will be easy for them to configure their house because they will be able to able to use a slider to select the number of various types of rooms and select the type of air conditioner they have. Their house will have appeared before their eyes as they worked out the right number of rooms.
When they have finished configuring their house they can set the existing unit cost of electricity and select the expected future price of a unit of electricity.
Then they would move forward and they will see their electricity usage for each room, the amount of CO2 emissions and the power cost for each room by year by default. They could elect to see the result by month or quarter as an alternative.
They could then print the result or email it to a friend if they wanted to.
This looks so much a Flash job, but there are so many who don’t run it and who don’t want to do a download to try something out and won’t have it on the IPad. So it should be AJAX or as a WP plugin.
You will bid for this job because you:
• Have the programming skills to get the numbers
• Have the graphic skills to make it look good and neat and tidy and attractive and green
The tough part is that the website will be finished in 12 days from now.
A working example of close to what we want exists and will be given to selected applicants as well as in indication of the input and output. We will have engineers available to help you with the math and any concerns you have about electricity. The site address is [url removed, login to view]
There will be 4 calculator which essentially draw off the same base inputs.
