I’m taking a new handset from concept to first hardware prototype and need the complete software layer designed and proven on Android. The focus is design and prototyping—specifically software design—so your task is to turn our board files and SoC documentation into a bootable, stable Android build. You’ll start with the raw schematics, a reference bootloader, and chipset manuals that I’ll supply. From there, I expect a tailored AOSP-based image or similarly lean Android flavour that: • boots on our development board • brings up display, touchscreen, audio, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sensors, and camera drivers • includes a demo UI/UX that shows core functions and allows basic performance testing Deliverables - Source-controlled Android build (Git) with clear commit history - Board Support Package, HAL layers, and any custom kernel patches - Step-by-step build, flash, and debug documentation - Short video or live session proving the phone passes a 24-hour stability/burn-in test without critical crashes Acceptance Criteria 1. Device consistently boots to the Android home screen. 2. All listed peripherals operate without fatal errors. 3. Source tree reproduces the same image on a clean environment. I can ship the dev board worldwide; remote work is fine. When replying, highlight previous chipset bring-ups, custom ROM or BSP experience, and an estimated timeframe for initial boot plus full peripheral validation.

Hi there, Based on your requirements, I can work on the Android software layer from your board schematics and SoC documentation through initial boot, BSP/HAL integration and full peripheral validation. ➡️ My focus would be: • AOSP-based Android build + bootloader/kernel integration • Display, touchscreen, audio, LTE, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth bring-up • Camera and sensor HAL/driver integration • Custom kernel patches and board-specific configurations • Demo UI for core functions and performance testing • Git-based source tree with clean commits • Reproducible build, flashing & debugging documentation • 24-hour stability/burn-in validation and handover I have experience working with Android platform integration, custom ROM/BSP-level development and hardware/software bring-up. I can review the chipset documentation and board files first, then establish the bring-up sequence around the available reference BSP. ➡️ Estimated timeframe: • Initial boot: around 2–4 weeks after receiving the board, BSP and required documentation • Full peripheral validation: approximately 6–10 weeks, depending on chipset support and driver availability. If you share the SoC/chipset model and reference BSP details, I can assess the bring-up path and provide a more precise estimate. Thank you.

From raw schematics to a 24-hour burn-in pass, the schedule depends mostly on the SoC vendor's Android BSP. 1. Chipset bring-ups: none on Android; my hardware-side work is the robot control process software at Comau, one of Europe's largest industrial-robotics manufacturers (C#/.NET, Python, 2019-2021), backed by a Master's in Mechanical Engineering. 2. Custom ROM or BSP: none shipped, so weigh that against the plan below. 3. Timeframe, at 40+ hours a week: with a vendor kernel tree and HAL blobs, first boot to the home screen about 4 weeks after the board arrives, then roughly 3 months for all peripherals and the burn-in. Datasheets only, with no vendor BSP, roughly doubles both. I'd start with the reference bootloader and vendor kernel, get the serial console and adb up, then display and touch, so every later driver has a screen to debug on. LTE and camera go last, since the modem RIL and camera ISP tuning are where proprietary blobs stall a bring-up. Each driver goes in as its own commit with a pinned repo manifest, so a clean machine rebuilds the same image, and we can set first boot as the first milestone, released only when you see it on your board. Which SoC is it, and does the vendor ship an Android kernel tree and HAL blobs, or only datasheets?

Hi there, Taking a custom hardware handset from concept to a stable first prototype often stalls due to missing HAL layers, unstable kernel patches, and driver bring-up issues that prevent a clean boot. My solution is to leverage deep AOSP and BSP expertise to systematically integrate your SoC documentation and board files into a lean, fully bootable Android image with every peripheral validated. Before we dive in, here are my questions: 1. Which specific SoC and chipset vendor are we targeting for this initial build? 2. Are you using an existing manufacturer reference board as our baseline, or is this a completely novel PCB design? Drop me a message so we can get started right away.

✋ Hi, the critical dependency here is the SoC/BSP support level. AOSP itself is only one layer; display, modem/LTE, camera, audio, sensors, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, power management, and boot stability depend heavily on vendor kernel sources, proprietary blobs, HALs, and reference-board documentation. I’d begin with a bring-up audit covering the schematic, bootloader, kernel tree, device tree, vendor binaries, Android version target, and available reference BSP. From there I’d establish repeatable boot first, then validate peripherals systematically through kernel/device-tree configuration and HAL integration before adding the demo UI. Each subsystem would be logged and tested independently, with changes committed cleanly and the final image reproduced from a clean build environment. I won’t claim chipset/BSP bring-ups I can’t verify. Which SoC and reference BSP/vendor source package are available for the development board?

Hi there, I think the main goal is to turn your board schematics and SoC documentation into a reproducible Android platform that boots reliably first, then progressively brings up the display, touchscreen, audio, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sensors and camera. I’d approach this as a structured AOSP/BSP bring-up, starting with the boot chain, kernel configuration, device tree and HAL interfaces before validating each peripheral independently. I’d keep the Android source in Git with clear commits, isolate board-specific changes from the base AOSP tree, and document every build, flash and debugging step so the image can be reproduced on a clean environment. The demo UI would provide a practical way to exercise the hardware while collecting stability and performance data, followed by extended burn-in testing. The first milestone would be establishing a stable boot path, followed by peripheral validation and final integration/stability testing. Looking forward to working with you. Thanks*

Hi, I can help you turn the board files and SoC documentation into a bootable Android build in about 4-6 weeks. My approach will be to start with the reference bootloader and adapt it for your hardware, ensuring all key peripherals are operational. Could you clarify which specific chipset you're using and if there are any particular requirements for the demo UI/UX that I should keep in mind? Also, what tools or environments do you prefer for development and testing? My plan would involve incrementally building the AOSP-based image, testing each component as it’s integrated. I've previously worked on similar chipset bring-ups and tailored ROMs, which should ease the process. I'm looking forward to discussing how we can get started. Best regards, Mohammad

Your handset prototype needs a reproducible Android software foundation, not just a bootable image, but a source-controlled BSP that can be rebuilt, flashed, debugged, and validated reliably. I can structure the work around your schematics, SoC documentation, reference bootloader, and development board: establish the kernel and device tree, bring up the display and touch path first, then integrate audio, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sensors, and camera through the appropriate HAL and vendor interfaces. A lean AOSP-based build with a focused demo UI will make core functions and performance easy to verify. The repository will include clean commits, build and flash automation, board-specific patches, troubleshooting notes, and reproducible-environment documentation. Validation will cover boot reliability, peripheral operation, logs, crash monitoring, and the requested 24-hour burn-in demonstration. I would provide an initial boot milestone after board-level power, bootloader, kernel, storage, and display integration, followed by staged peripheral validation. Exact timing depends on the SoC vendor tree, modem integration requirements, and driver availability; I would confirm the schedule after reviewing those materials.

Hi, I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience developing Linux/Android platforms, board support packages, bootloaders, kernel drivers, HAL integrations, and production-grade connected devices. I have worked on custom board and chipset bring-ups, adapting reference BSPs and Android builds to new hardware while diagnosing issues across schematics, device trees, power sequencing, buses, radios, multimedia, and sensors. I can take your board files, reference bootloader, and SoC documentation through initial boot, peripheral validation, and a reproducible source-controlled build. I will also provide the demo UI, clean build/flash/debug documentation, and structured stability testing, including the required 24-hour burn-in evidence. With a complete vendor BSP, binaries, documentation, and working board, I would estimate 2–4 weeks for a reliable initial Android boot and approximately 8–12 weeks for full peripheral bring-up and validation. The final schedule will depend particularly on LTE certification dependencies, camera tuning, proprietary firmware, and hardware revisions. Which SoC and Android version are targeted, and are vendor kernel sources, radio blobs, camera drivers, and flashing tools available? I can also support schematic review, hardware debugging, and the wider path from prototype to a consumer-grade product. Please contact me to discuss details.
