495267 Asset tracking database(s)

This is a job for a window company who want to track their products after they leave a merchant or distributor.

The products are installed and registered by the “Installer” (database 1) and the products should be also registered by the “End User” (database 2)

When the Installer fits a window or windows, he is asked to register those windows to a site, and in return he will be credited with “points” (according to the size of window fitted). As the points add up, the installer can exchange them for free product or other goods (yet to be determined).

For his points to be activated, the “End User” must also register the window on a separate database, in order to activate the Warranty. The end user is incentivised to do so by being given 2 years extra warranty in exchange for registering.

When the End User registers the serial number of the window, the database should cross reference with the Installer database and if it has been registered then the Installer is credited with the corresponding number of points for that size of window.

The requirement then is for two interacting databases, accessible from 2 separate web pages.

I. Installer Database

The fields in the installer database should be as follows:

Name

Address

Telephone

eMail

Window(s) installed (from a dropdown)

Serial Number,

Batch number,

Client name

Installation Address

It should display the Account balance (points accrued) when the Installer is logged in, plus a history of windows previously installed (i.e. previous entries).

The installer should be asked to login when they arrive at the page, and prompted on the first visit to change their password.

There should also be an option to register for an account.

The first batch of installers will be notified by mail and sent a membership card with login details.

 

II. End User Database

The fields in the warranty database should be as follows:

Name

Address

Telephone

eMail

Window Type/Size (form a dropdown)

Serial number

Batch number

Date Installed

Once they have registered one window, they should be asked if they have any other windows installed.

Once they have registered a window, the database should be able to cross reference it to a specific installer, and credit them their bonus points.

Following registration, the End User will be sent a login to their “account” where they can also download their PDF-based warranty certificate

The principle of the idea is to capture the identity of who is installing our products, plus to create a link to the windows they install, so that the company can remarket to them. Normally because they sell through merchants/distributors they have little or no contact with the people who have actually bought their products, and this is to address that.
