We are developing a competency based career framework for podiatry in Australia in specific interest areas. We have taken the standards for a graduate podiatrist and would like to expand these (or remove) in specific interest areas which are Paediatrics, High Risk Foot and Sports / Bio mechanical.
There will be two credentialing levels, certified and consultant.
Specifically we are looking for Allied Health professionals or knowledge of Allied Health, Educators or Podiatrists.
What we would like is to review the standards in the document and expand these in the two credential levels keeping some consistency across all three interest areas. What would a certified podiatrist in Paediatrics require to meet a credential which is beyond a graduate podiatrist? And again at the consultant level.
There is 8 core competencies listed in the documents and we will be mapping these back to the Canmeds headings which are: Medical Expert, Communicator, Collaborator, Leader, Health Advocate, Scholar and Professional.
There is currently no national framework for this in [url removed, login to view] organisation will be the credentialing body for this framework. Our framework will be a clinical based competency framework and not an academic framework.
We currently have our own clinical interest groups which are looking at these standards, however having someone draft these documents first would be a great starting point.
We will look at how a participant will meet these standards once they have been developed.
If you would like to select one interest area only (Paediatrics, High Risk Foot or Sports / Bio mechanical) please indicate this. Alternatively if you would like to look at all three this would be preferable.
