I am using an ASP Script called (Product Cart) on a currently running business ([url removed, login to view]) and looking to upgrade my site to the newest version they have released. I have already setup a separate hosting and installed a fresh (newest) version with the empty dB. After the update, I will transfer the DNS to point to the new hosting and disgard the old one.
In the past, I have done few customizations for the front end and dB of current running site.
As for the front end, I would like to ftp and use the new files then slowly work on moving the customization parts (Later) to the new installations (Not Many).
However, updating my current database to the new version without loosing any data then move it to the new hosting is currently more important. Not Sure here which is the best way since both databases have been already updated in the past. I do not want to lose any data at all. I am thinking that the updates from the new dB need to be brought to my current dB Manually (such as tables, fields, etc..) then replace my dB on the new site instead of the empty one.
I have more stuff to do after that such as; moving the customizations, new design and other customizations. But first I want to make sure that the dB issue is resolved and the new script files will function fully with my current dB after the update.
My website is [url removed, login to view]
I will provide with more info as needed.
