For the past few years, I've had this idea for a journal/planner website. I keep thinking I will have time to read up on web programming and throw something together, but I can never find the time. That brings me here to see what freelancers can offer.
At present, I have absolutely nothing, so it would need to be created from scratch. Essentially the site will have two parts that are intertwined. One part allows users to plan future events. The other part allows people to document events as they are happening in a journal/blog type of interface.
Here are the main things that need to be implemented:
1. A way for users to log-in/register through some form of database. It should keep track of and remember their journals, their future plans, a profile, a circle of friends, etc.
2. A search utility for people to find information that has been posted in other peoples journals/plans
3. A simple forum for users to interact with one another
4. An overarching system that allows for events and places to be rated on a star or number system and to be reviewed/commented upon. If the events/places aren't in the database alraedy, users should be able to add them for everyone.
An overarching database for storing cities (and probably coordinates) in order to automatically create maps that can dynamically draw lines from city to city depending on user input. I'll have to manually enter all cities as cities are relatively finite and fixed. Link these together to have system suggest destinations based on reviews, distance, popularity, etc.
The web design itself isn't entirely necessary as I can do this as long as I am given help as to setting up the freelanced scripts and interacting it with the web design. However, feel free to quote a price with and without webdesign. Since this is simply a side project of mine, I don't have a load of money to back it so let's not go crazy with the bidding. Most of the scripts I mentioned above I would imagine have already been made by many of you. I feel it is important that you show prior work and projects. I have outlined the project and have some more details to talk about, but will send them when this proceeds to the next step. If you have any questions, let me know.
