PROJECT 15-minute calm bedtime story video edit — slow slideshow + narration + ambient music. First of an ongoing series for a UK kids/family sleep channel. ABOUT THE CHANNEL The Hush Wood is a slow, gentle bedtime story brand for children aged 3 to 7 and their grown-ups. Think the pacing of Cozy Nights, Tales of Bedtime, or Stories of Sleep — long holds, almost-still images, a soft narrated story over a quiet ambient bed. The video plays at bedtime and the child falls asleep to it. The goal is calm; the enemy is energy. WHAT I'LL SEND YOU (Google Drive link on hire) - 1 mastered narration MP3, approximately 15 minutes, already at -16 LUFS / -1 dB true peak. - 6 to 10 numbered storybook stills, 1920×1080 or larger PNG, in playback order. - 1 royalty-free ambient music MP3. - A scene-order text file and this brief. WHAT I NEED BACK - One MP4, 1080p, 16:9, H.264 / AAC, under 1 GB. - Total length matches the narration plus a 30–45 second fade-to-dark tail at the end. - No title cards, no end cards, no on-screen text of any kind. PACING RULES — THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE BRIEF - Each still must hold on screen for 90 to 180 seconds. Not 5–10. - Apply a very slow Ken Burns to every still: 2–5% zoom over the full duration. Slight push-in on character shots, slight pan-across on landscape shots. Slow. - Transitions between stills: 1–2 second crossfade only. No wipes, hard cuts, light leaks, glitch effects, zoom punches, or stylised transitions of any kind. - The final 30–45 seconds: the last still and the music fade together to black silence. AUDIO RULES - Drop the music underneath the narration at approximately -22 LUFS — felt, not heard. Please confirm with a short LUFS reading. - Do not compress, EQ or further master the narration — it's finished. - No music swells, no risers, no transitional builds. VISUAL RULES - No captions, subtitles, logos, watermarks, motion graphics, particle effects, light leaks or lens flares. - No colour grading changes between stills. Keep the supplied deep-indigo + amber palette exactly as delivered. - No additional images or stock footage — only the stills I send. WHAT KILLS THE GIG Fast cuts, swelling music, zoom punches, on-screen text, end cards, energetic motion, transitions with sound effects. Anything that would wake a sleeping child. REFERENCE FOR TONE (not editing style) Search YouTube for "Cozy Nights", "Tales of Bedtime", or "Stories of Sleep". That's the still, slow, holds-for-minutes pacing I need. TIMELINE 48 hours from project start. REVISIONS 1 round included. The most likely revision request is "slow it down further". BUDGET £40–£70 for this first edit. £25–£35 per episode after a reusable template is locked from this job — I expect to commission 1–2 episodes per month ongoing if this one lands. TO APPLY Please send one timestamped link to a previous slow-paced edit you've worked on — podcast-to-video, meditation, audiobook, or similar. Edits with fast cuts will not be considered.

Hello, I will create a calming bedtime story video that focuses on the slow-paced experience your audience craves. The key action here is to ensure each image is displayed for 90 to 180 seconds, allowing children to settle into a tranquil state as they listen to the narration. I’ll start by carefully selecting the right moments in the audio to align with the visuals, ensuring a seamless flow. By applying a gentle Ken Burns effect, I’ll add just enough movement to keep the visuals engaging without disrupting the soothing atmosphere. In a previous project for a children's storytelling channel, I implemented a similar approach. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with parents noting that their kids fell asleep faster and enjoyed the stories more. What outcome are you really hoping to see from this? Ramandeep K.

Hi there, I understand you're looking for a very slow-paced, calming bedtime story edit that prioritizes stillness, gentle movement, and uninterrupted relaxation for young children. I have experience creating long-form narrated videos, audiobook-style visuals, and ambient content where pacing, audio balance, and subtle motion are critical to maintaining the intended mood and viewer experience. To approach your project, I would be carefully following your pacing specifications by holding each storybook image for the required duration, applying only extremely subtle Ken Burns movements, and using simple 1–2 second crossfades between scenes. Using Adobe Premiere Pro and professional audio tools, I will preserve the narration exactly as delivered, mix the ambient music beneath it at the requested level, verify the music loudness with a LUFS reading, and create a smooth fade-to-black ending lasting 30–45 seconds. The final deliverables would be a 1080p H.264/AAC MP4 under 1 GB, delivered within your 48-hour timeline and ready for upload. Do you have a specific art style or reference video in mind, or would you like me to propose a creative direction from scratch? ✔️See what my clients say about my skillset: https://www.freelancer.com/u/danishlarik231 I'd be happy to discuss the workflow and create a reusable template that supports future episodes in the series. As a dedicated video editor and graphic designer, I’m pinpointed on supplying my clients with exceptional visuals that make a memorable impact, and your project resonates deeply with this philosophy. I’ve worked extensively across various domains creating slow-paced edits for podcasts, meditations, and audiobooks just like you require. Presenting your identified vision with coherent clarity is something I achieve by utilizing my skills in Post-Production, Sound Design, Video Editing, and Production planning. My experience includes producing content for brands while maintaining their individual style consistently; an essential skill in fulfilling your instruction of adhering to the specific deep-indigo + amber palette delivered. And when it comes to adhering strictly to time limitations as in this project where each still must hold on screen for 90 to 180 seconds – not 5-10 or applying a very slow Ken Burns effect--these are tasks I’ve done time again. Hi, I actually like that you've clearly explained what NOT to do. Most editors try to make everything faster and more dynamic, but bedtime content works for the opposite reason. The pacing, long holds, gentle zooms, and clean audio are what keep children relaxed and engaged. ⭐ Portfolio: https://www.freelancer.com/u/samang1?frm=samang1&sb=t I've worked extensively with Premiere Pro and understand how important audio balance is for long-form viewing. Based on your brief, I would focus on smooth image timing, subtle movement only where needed, and clean narration/music mixing without distracting effects. Before starting, I'd simply like to see one of your existing videos so I can match the exact pacing style you're already using. What is the average number of images used per episode? Saman

Hyy, Your brief stands out because it understands that bedtime content succeeds through restraint, not activity. I can create the slow, calming pacing you're looking for by building the video entirely around the narration, allowing each illustration to breathe with long holds, subtle 2–5% Ken Burns movement, gentle crossfades, and a gradual fade to black that supports sleep rather than interrupts it. I work regularly with long-form video content where pacing, audio balance, and viewer comfort are more important than flashy editing. I'll follow your specifications closely: no captions, no effects, no additional assets, no colour changes, and no unnecessary motion. The ambient music will sit quietly beneath the narration at an appropriate level, and I can provide a LUFS reading to confirm compliance with your audio requirements. The finished video will be exported as a clean 1080p H.264 MP4 ready for upload. I can comfortably work within your 48-hour timeline and would be interested in building a reusable workflow for future episodes. I'd be happy to discuss the project further and review the supplied assets once available. Best regards, Neha K.
