Happy to walk you through EC2 and Lambda properly. Two things I would make sure you leave the sessions actually understanding, because they are what bite people the first month, not the setup itself. On EC2, the security group is only half the door. Even with the right inbound rule, you also need the instance in a public subnet with a route to an internet gateway and a public IP, or it stays unreachable and the security group looks wrongly blamed. And the key pair cannot be re-downloaded, so we set up how you recover in if it is lost before you are locked out at a bad moment. On Lambda, the trap is not the code, it is permissions and cold reality. The function has its own IAM role, so it can run fine in the console and fail live because that role cannot read your bucket. And anything in a VPC or hitting a slow dependency needs the timeout and memory set deliberately, since the default 3 seconds kills real calls. I would rather you finish able to debug these yourself than sit through a demo. Are you on the AWS free tier, and is there a specific thing you are trying to deploy, or is this general grounding? For EC2 that means launching and sizing instances, security groups, SSH access, and the Linux administration once you're on the box. For Lambda: functions, triggers, IAM roles and permissions, and reading the logs when something fails. I'd work from your actual account and your real goal, so you learn on the setup you'll keep using rather than a throwaway example. Two questions: what are you ultimately trying to build or run on AWS, and what's your comfort level with the Linux command line today? That tells me where to start so we don't waste your time.
