1. Real-Time Event Streaming & Message Queue Service Category: Backend Development / Distributed Systems Budget: £1,350 GBP — Fixed Price, 3 Milestones Project deadline: Tuesday, 6 October 2026 Description: We need a backend engineer to build a real-time event streaming service that ingests high-volume events from multiple producers, queues them reliably, and routes them to downstream consumers with guaranteed delivery ordering. The service needs to handle backpressure gracefully, support consumer groups, and expose a clean internal API for publishing and subscribing to topics. This is purely a backend/messaging-infrastructure build — no UI involved. Key requirements: • Strong experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or a comparable message broker • Solid understanding of event-driven architecture and idempotent consumers • Experience designing internal pub/sub or queueing APIs • Comfortable working against a fixed one-week delivery window Deliverables: • Working event streaming/queueing service with producer and consumer interfaces • Documented topic/queue structure and delivery-guarantee design • Basic monitoring hooks for queue depth and consumer lag Payment Structure — £1,350 GBP Fixed, 3 Milestones Milestone 1 – Advance Payment: £540 • Paid upon project commencement and award of contract • Funds initial development and setup of the agreed scope • This payment does not constitute delivery, acceptance, or completion of any part of the work, and does not waive any requirement of this posting Milestone 2 – Advance Payment: £540 • Paid upon the Freelancer demonstrating development progress against the agreed scope, at the Client's sole discretion • Same conditions as Milestone 1 apply: this payment does not constitute delivery, acceptance, or completion, and does not limit the Client's rights in the event of non-delivery or breach Milestone 3 – Final Payment: £270 • Payable only upon full delivery of all items listed under Deliverables above, functioning as specified, together with transfer of all source code, documentation, and access relevant to the work • Failure to meet these conditions voids entitlement to the Final Payment Money-Back Guarantee & Acceptance Terms: 1. Freelancer's acceptance of these terms. By commencing any work under this project — including, without limitation, accepting the award, confirming a start date, or performing any preparatory or substantive task — the Freelancer is deemed to have read, understood, and irrevocably accepted all terms of this posting in full, including this Money-Back Guarantee & Acceptance Terms clause. Commencement of work by the Freelancer constitutes their binding acceptance of the contract; it is not conditional on any further signature or confirmation. 2. Milestone release ≠ Client's acceptance of the work. Release of any milestone payment by the Client authorises the Freelancer to commence or continue work only. It does not constitute the Client's acceptance of that work or of the final deliverable. The Client's acceptance of the deliverable occurs solely upon the Client's written confirmation that it conforms to the specification set out in this posting. 3. Time is of the essence. The Project Deadline stated above (6 October 2026) is a material term of this engagement. 4. Money-back guarantee. If the completed deliverable(s) are not delivered in full working order by the Project Deadline, and the Client has not granted an express written extension prior to that deadline, this contract shall automatically and immediately terminate (become void) without further notice, and the Freelancer shall refund the Client all sums paid under this contract in full within 5 business days of the deadline lapsing. 5. Extensions. Any extension to the Project Deadline is valid only if agreed in writing by the Client before the original deadline expires. No extension is implied by silence, delay in response, or continued work after the deadline has passed. 6. No waiver. The Client's acceptance of late or partial work, at its sole discretion, does not waive the Client's rights under this clause in respect of any other milestone or deliverable. 7. Survival. This clause survives termination of the contract. 8. Strict no partial acceptance. There is no partial acceptance of work and no payment beyond the Milestones expressly set out above for incomplete or partially functional deliverables. "Substantial completion" or "near completion" does not qualify. Completion of individual components does not entitle the Freelancer to proportional payment. Testing, feedback, or engagement from the Client does not itself constitute acceptance. Acceptance occurs only upon full completion of the Deliverables as set out in this posting. 9. Refund rights (material breach). Failure to deliver a complete, working system as specified in this posting constitutes material breach. This includes missed delivery obligations, a non-functional deliverable, or failure to meet the specification set out above. The Client reserves the right to terminate this contract and pursue recovery of payments made, subject to applicable law. 10. Suspension rights. The Freelancer may suspend work if payment of a due Milestone is overdue by more than 30 days, the Client commits a material breach of this agreement, or the Freelancer reasonably believes continuing would expose their work product to unauthorised use or a security risk. 11. Limitation of liability. Liability under this contract is limited to the total fixed price of £1,350. Nothing in this clause excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. 12. Confidentiality. Both parties agree to keep confidential any system architecture, code, credentials, and data shared in connection with this project. This obligation survives termination of the contract. 13. Intellectual property. Upon receipt of the Final Payment (Milestone 3), all deliverables — including source code and documentation produced specifically for this project — become the property of the Client. The Freelancer retains ownership of any pre-existing tools, frameworks, or generic components used to deliver the work. 14. Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond their reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, infrastructure failures, or pandemics. 15. Communication requirement. All communication, updates, approvals, and documentation relating to this project must occur in writing. Communication outside of this does not amend this agreement. 16. Governing law. This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

I can design and deliver the backend event streaming service around reliable producer and consumer flows, ordered delivery, consumer groups, backpressure handling, and idempotent processing. The architecture will keep broker responsibilities clear while exposing a clean internal API for publishing and subscribing to topics. I’ll establish the topic/queue model, delivery guarantees, retry and acknowledgement behavior, then add monitoring hooks for queue depth and consumer lag. The implementation will be structured for a focused one-week delivery, with milestone demonstrations covering the working service, interfaces, documentation, and operational checks. Agile Development practices will keep progress visible and make each milestone technically verifiable, while API Development and Software Architecture decisions remain documented for future extension. Which broker and deployment environment should the service target, and must ordering be guaranteed globally or per topic partition/consumer group? I’ll also ensure the handover includes source code, configuration guidance, and clear notes on ordering, failure recovery, and idempotency. Muhammad Awais

Hi, I am Adeel. I built Boostifai, a multi-tenant SaaS where background workers process high-volume events across tenants with strict ordering and delivery guarantees, so designing reliable pub/sub with backpressure handling is familiar ground. For this I would use RabbitMQ with durable queues and consumer groups, idempotent handlers keyed on message id, and expose a thin internal API for publish and subscribe operations. Monitoring hooks for queue depth and consumer lag would sit alongside from day one rather than bolted on later. Given the one week window, would you want Kafka considered as an alternative, or is RabbitMQ already the fixed choice?

Hi, I reviewed the project and understand the main requirement: building a reliable backend event streaming service for high-volume events, ordered delivery, backpressure, and consumer groups. I can create the producer and consumer interfaces with a suitable message broker, applying Cloud Computing and Microservices principles for resilient event-driven routing. I’ll document the topic and queue structure, delivery guarantees, idempotent consumer behavior, and internal APIs through clear Technical Writing, while adding monitoring hooks for queue depth and consumer lag. I’ll keep the implementation clean, responsive, and straightforward to manage within the fixed delivery window, with focused progress against each milestone. Let’s discuss here now.

Guaranteed ordering and consumer groups pull against each other, since order only holds inside one partition or queue. So I'd start by pinning down the ordering unit with you (per user, per account, per entity ID), because that sets the partition key and caps how many consumers can run in parallel. Then the publish/subscribe API on top of Kafka or RabbitMQ, with idempotent consumers keyed on a dedupe ID so a redelivery after a crash doesn't double-process. For backpressure I'd use prefetch limits and slow the producers down rather than drop events, and expose queue depth, consumer lag and ack rates as metrics you can scrape. Four years of my work at MacKenzie & MacKenzie has been Python data pipelines and warehousing, which is the same delivery-guarantee problem. First milestone can be one topic running end to end, producer through a consumer group with ordering and the monitoring hooks, in 3 days, well inside your 6 October date. Do you already run a broker in production, or is that choice still open?

Hello, I have experience building backend systems using event-driven architecture, message queues, and distributed services. I can develop a reliable real-time event streaming service using technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or a custom lightweight messaging layer depending on your scalability requirements. My approach will include designing producer and consumer interfaces, implementing topic-based routing, ensuring ordered delivery, handling backpressure, and adding idempotency mechanisms to prevent duplicate processing. I will also provide monitoring hooks for queue depth, consumer lag, and service health. The final delivery will include clean, documented source code, API documentation, topic/queue structure explanation, and setup instructions. I will focus on creating a maintainable solution that can be extended for future producers and consumers. I understand the one-week delivery requirement and milestone structure. I can start immediately, provide regular progress updates, and work toward delivering a fully tested backend service within the agreed timeline.

Hi sir , the critical detail is preserving event order when consumers slow down, fail or retry not just during normal operation. I’d build around explicit ordering keys, bounded buffering and idempotent processing, with recovery tests and consumer-lag monitoring included. For the one-week scope, I’d prioritize producer/consumer APIs, documented delivery guarantees and a reproducible deployment. Do you need ordering across an entire topic or only within each customer/entity, and what peak event rate should the service handle?

Hi, I'm Denis, a backend developer specializing in distributed messaging systems and event-driven architectures. I understand you're building a reliable, high-throughput event streaming service that handles multiple producers and consumers with guaranteed ordering and delivery semantics. I've built similar systems where the core challenge is ensuring messages arrive in order, handle backpressure without dropping data, and provide visibility into queue performance. Monitoring queue depth and consumer lag is critical—you need early warning before bottlenecks become problems. My approach: Start with an architecture review to confirm topic structure and consumer group design. Then implement core producer and consumer interfaces, add idempotency handling to prevent duplicates, and wire up backpressure mechanisms for graceful degradation under load. Testing throughout ensures ordering and delivery guarantees hold. Finally, I'll add monitoring endpoints and documentation for maintainability. The key technical challenge is designing consumer group logic correctly. Consumer groups must reliably track offsets, rebalance when consumers join or leave, and guarantee no message is processed twice or skipped. This is where most systems fail without careful upfront planning. I'm comfortable with the one-week deadline, fixed-price structure, and the October 6th material deadline. I can start immediately. Let's discuss the details. Thanks, Denis.

Are you set on Kafka for this, or would RabbitMQ's exchange routing actually suit the consumer group side better? That decision shapes the whole first milestone, so I'd rather settle it before writing anything. My instinct is RabbitMQ for this scope. A one week window with guaranteed ordering and backpressure is doable with topic exchanges, per-consumer prefetch limits and manual ack/nack, without needing a schema registry or a Zookeeper/KRaft setup on top. I'd prove the topology first rather than build blind. Milestone one is a real exchange and queue layout with a producer and a working consumer group actually moving messages, so the ordering guarantee is visible before you commit to the rest. From there I'd add the delivery guarantees and dead-lettering, then backpressure and scaling, then the monitoring hooks for queue depth and consumer lag through the management API or a Prometheus exporter, whichever suits your stack. M1: RabbitMQ topology demo, exchange/queue layout with producer + working consumer group, £319, 2 days. M2: Guaranteed delivery and ordering, ack/nack handling, dead-letter and retry logic, £350, 2 days. M3: Backpressure handling and consumer group scaling under load, £350, 2 days. M4: Monitoring hooks for queue depth and consumer lag, load test, handover docs, £256, 1 day. Send me the repo, or a blank one if this is greenfield, and I'll have a tighter number back to you tomorrow.

Got it, this is a pure backend/messaging-infrastructure build: high-volume producers → reliable queueing → ordered delivery to downstream consumers, with backpressure and consumer groups. I’ll implement an event streaming service (Kafka or comparable broker) with idempotent consumption, clear topic/queue design, and a resilient internal pub/sub API for publishing and subscribing. To keep the one-week window realistic, I’ll start with a minimal but complete skeleton: ingestion path, routing to topic(s), consumer-group strategy, and delivery/ordering guarantees. Then I’ll layer in backpressure handling and monitoring hooks (queue depth + consumer lag). You’ll get documented interfaces, delivery-guarantee design notes, and source code structured for maintainability, no UI, no fluff. Milestones will map to tangible working increments so the final deliverable hits “full working order” by the deadline, because time is the essence, not a suggestion.

I've built Kafka-based event streaming systems before, so this is right in my wheelhouse. I'll set up a scalable producer/consumer service with RabbitMQ, configure topic partitioning for ordering guarantees, and implement backpressure handling via flow control. The API will use AMQP for publishing/subscribing, with consumer groups managed via exclusive queues. Monitoring will track queue depth and lag via Prometheus metrics. I'll deliver a containerized deployment with Docker and Helm charts for easy scaling. I can start immediately. Thanks, Andrii.

Hi, Mateo here from Toronto, I can build the backend event streaming service around a reliable event-driven architecture using Kafka or RabbitMQ, depending on the exact throughput and ordering requirements. The service would provide clean producer/consumer interfaces, topic and queue management, consumer groups, ordering guarantees, retry/error handling, and idempotent consumers to prevent duplicate processing. I’ll also design backpressure handling so high-volume producers do not overwhelm downstream consumers. For monitoring, I can expose the key operational metrics needed to track queue depth, consumer lag, processing failures, throughput, and service health. I’ll keep the implementation focused and production-oriented, with clear separation between the messaging layer and business logic so it can be extended later without major architectural changes. The three milestones can cover architecture/setup, core streaming implementation, and final testing/documentation. I’ll provide the source code, documented delivery guarantees, API/interface documentation, and setup instructions. Before implementation, I’d confirm the expected event volume, ordering scope, persistence requirements, and whether Kafka or RabbitMQ is preferred. That will determine the most appropriate design. You need a reliable backend messaging service that can ingest high volume events, preserve delivery ordering, handle backpressure, and expose clean producer and consumer APIs. I have direct experience with event driven backend systems and messaging infrastructure using Python, Node.js, RabbitMQ, Kafka, WebSockets, and AWS services. At Marin Software, I worked on real time pipelines with serverless Python and AWS Lambda, while my production stack also includes RabbitMQ and Kafka for asynchronous processing. I can design the service around consumer groups, idempotent consumers, delivery guarantees, queue monitoring, and failure handling so the behavior is predictable under load. I would also document the topic structure, API contracts, retry strategy, and operational requirements clearly for handoff. One concern is the strict one week window combined with the money back clause, so I would want to confirm the exact broker and expected event volume before accepting. Can you confirm the expected throughput and preferred broker?

Hi, there. "REAL-TIME EVENT STREAMING SERVICE" — you need reliable event delivery without message loss I would design the service around durable queues, clear producer and consumer APIs, and idempotent handlers so retries do not create duplicate processing. I would also expose queue depth and consumer lag metrics early to make failures visible before they impact downstream services. Ordering, retries, and consumer recovery need careful handling in distributed systems. I would define topic structure and delivery rules first, then build the service in small testable milestones. Which broker is already preferred for this build: RabbitMQ, Kafka, or another option? Looking forward to working with you.
