I am developing a wearable electronic device for sports such as padel or tennis that allows players to easily record points during a match. The system consists of a small button worn on the player’s shirt that communicates wirelessly with a courtside speaker. When the button is pressed, the system updates the score and announces it audibly. Current Stage: Prototype development. The goal is to design a functional, low-cost, and manufacturable electronic system that can later be scaled to production. System Components: 1. Wearable Button Unit * Small, lightweight device clipped to the player's shirt * Single push button input * Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication * Rechargeable battery (Li-Po) * USB charging circuit * RGB LED status indicator: * Green: Device ON * Flashing Red: Charging * Green (steady): Fully charged * Low-cost design is important 2. Speaker Unit * Receives signals from the button via Bluetooth * Plays pre-recorded audio announcing the score * Rechargeable battery-powered * Designed for outdoor sports court use Key Functional Requirements: * Single press: Add point to player * Double press: Add point to opponent * Hold Press: Undo previous point * Reliable Bluetooth communication within a standard sports court distance (~20–30 meters) * Simple and robust hardware design * Cost-efficient components suitable for future mass production What I Need from the Freelancer: * Complete electronic schematic design * Component selection (cost-optimized BOM) * Power supply and battery charging circuit design * PCB layout suitable for prototyping and later manufacturing * Recommendations for reliable and low-cost components * Files compatible with tools such as Proteus, KiCad, or Altium Constraints / Priorities: * Keep the design as low-cost as reasonably possible * Use widely available components * Focus on reliability and simplicity * This is the first prototype, not the final commercial version Additional Requirement – Firmware / Software: In addition to the hardware design, I also require the complete working firmware/code for both the wearable button unit and the speaker unit. The goal is to receive a fully functional prototype that can be tested immediately after assembly. This includes: Embedded firmware for the wearable device (button logic, Bluetooth communication, power management, LED status behavior) Firmware for the speaker unit (Bluetooth communication and audio playback logic) Clear, well-structured, and documented source code Instructions on how to compile, upload, and test the firmware Use of common development tools and libraries where possible Code ownership and rights transferred to me upon project completion The expectation is a fully working end-to-end system: press the button → score updates → speaker announces the score.
