I am looking for someone to replicate the functionality of a vehicle 6 speed gearbox selector using a microcontroller (8051) where using fixed magnets (or better alternative) would detect the position and when processed by the microcontroller would control an output device which would replicate that of the mechanical selector affixed to the actual transmission selector shafts (this could be hydralic or simple mechanics) i.e. so there would be no need for cables linked from the selector within the vehicle to the transmission itself. Program would have to be written in c ideally with a PCB that could be used to hold any electronics and be fed off a 12V supply
