I have an mp3 site with many mp3 links in a database (mp3's are not on my server). I basically need an app that accesses the MySQL database and goes through the links to check 1) if the file exists and if it does, 2) gets their ID3 info. The database would then be updated: either the record is deleted, or ID3 info gets updated in the db. It can be done in C languages or Java, whatever will be the best/most efficient.
The MAIN requirement I need is EFFICIENCY. It need to through more than 1 mp3 at once (perhaps 4-5; whatever the server can easily handle). It should NOT be a heavy load on the server. And quite obviously, the whole MP3 can't be downloaded for this reason (and that would eat up my resources). Only the ID3 should be checked (it would be necessary to check for all versions of ID3). If you have any ideas/notes I should know about, please let me know via PM.
I currently have this coded in PHP, but because PHP is not made for backend, it's very burdensome on my server.
This project does NOT have to be coded from scratch. I'm not experienced in backend languages, but I would think there already exist some libraries to get ID3 info, which you may use.
Last but not least, I would need help setting it up on my server to run continuously 24/7 =)
