I would like a MPLAB C30 project using the PIC24FJ192GB106 to log information to a micro SD card via SPI. MPLAB C30 I will provide the schematic , and project that identifies a SD card in the SPI bus and correctly identifies it I require: Log a string to the SD card with a time stamp (need not be FAT or derivative - but need ability to retrieve the records) It is important to conserve space - Simple logging - records by date-time (no sorting - no Keys) [login to view URL] 12344567,12,13,14,14,14,15,15,15,15,14,14,14,14,chsum,transmitted-flag Where 12344557 = Julian Time in seconds 12,13..... are individual speed values always 0-255 chksum = chksum of string transmitted flag - Boolean value - indicating if the record has been transmitted already It is not important to be able to read the sd card in a PC - but another embedded system with my PIC24FJ192GB106 should be able to decode it and display it. Hi, I have quite a lot exp in PIC24 series with mplab xide with xc16 compiler. Of course as you said we can do it in raw format or using fat32 but for both stuff FatFs is well established fat system with lite verison so time consumes quite little time in fat fs but its affordable. I would like to work on this. Looking forward to hear from you.

Hi, I have been using PIC controllers for a long time now and have experience with almost all PIC (PIC16, PIC18, PIC24 and PIC32) and dsPIC (dsPIC30 and dsPIC33) families. I have worked on projects with communication interfaces for Ethernet, WiFi, ZigBee, USB - Host and Device, SD card, BSL and many other low level interfaces. I can help you with your project to add the logging feature on SD card as per the required data format. What I suggest is to go with the standard protocol using FAT rather than having customized data format. By doing that it would be comparatively easy to manage the code and will be really easy in future to make any changes to it. Also you have mentioned that it is important to conserve space, here, did u mean by program space or space on SD card. Based on which space you want to optimize the code for, I can provide you best solution for your requirement in least possible time. Please feel free to contact me for any queries you may have. Hi, I have good experience with PIC24F microcontroller and have designed with few boards using PIC microcontroller. I can help you create a SD-Card data logger. Hello Sapike, can you provide me a link to the schematic , and project that identifies a SD card in the SPI bus and correctly identifies it. You dont have to accept me on this project, but I am willing to give it a try neverthless, and if I do make it, i will contact you :) As I understand this is a part of a larger project, one is this, other is programming PIC24 via USB memory stick. I have experience with programing PIC18 using MikroC, but this is similar, with higher capabilities. Consider me as some kind of a backup plan :) As I can see, you need a SPI communication with memory, and a RTC implemented for time stamps, so it has a backup battery i suppose ? And transmitted flag is for transmision to the SD card, or it is for some other comm protocol that will have to be implemented too ? And but another embedded system with my PIC24FJ192GB106 is connected to this one using what, UART, SPI, ETHERNET ? Regards Milos

Dear sir, I hope this proposal finds you good. Concerning SD card Interface for PIC project details are flollow: ************ Who are we: We are 3 engineers interested in embedded systems, java and android technologies we won together 2 contests 1 for Orange and another 1 for Mentor Graphics . ************ Our prior experience: We made very similar project with the same compiler(MPLAB C30) but with another uc (PIC24FJ128GA) on MikroElektronika kit (lv24-33) we were guided by the book (Learning to Fly the PIC24) by Lucio Di Jasio. We arrived to get the SD card working with FAT16 file system so it can be read from PC but as you don't need this feature so we provide the solution in next section : ************ Solution: We only need to modify the layer of SPI configuration and adding the layer of data processing (chksum calcs) and finally the layer of sending data to SD card to according the scenario that we will agree with you to enable you to read it from another embedded system. ************ Needs: We already have the IDE and compiler and working version of the code specified above so we will use Proteus simulator in order to test added functionality that requires about 50 working hours. If there is ability to use UART module for troubleshooting that will be great. ************ Time line: We plan to deliver working SPI functionality @ 6th day and working full functionality @9th day and the 10th day for deployment support. ************ Thanks, Nabil

I already got the SD card read write prototype working in pic 18 in CCS. Only thing left is converting it to C30 and 24F. You can have the system in very short time
