Autodesk Fusion 360 + CloudNC CAM Assist Expert Needed — Complete Machine Shop Setup We are a working CNC machine shop looking for an experienced Autodesk Fusion 360 Manufacturing / CloudNC CAM Assist expert to properly configure our CAM environment from the ground up. This is not simply a part-programming project. We are looking for someone who understands how to build and organize a professional Fusion manufacturing environment so that CloudNC CAM Assist produces reliable, repeatable programs using our actual machines, tooling, holders, materials, and shop preferences. Our Goal We want to be able to import a customer model, select the correct machine/material/setup, run CAM Assist, and have the resulting program already be reasonably close to the way an experienced machinist in our shop would program the part. We understand CAM Assist will still require human review. The goal is to eliminate unnecessary editing caused by an incomplete or poorly configured tool library and CAM environment. Current Machines to Configure Initial focus will be on our CNC milling equipment: • 2023 15000rpm 30hp Okuma Genos M560-V • 2000 7500rpm 20hp Haas VF-6 • Haas EC-400 12000rpm 30hp horizontal machining center Additional equipment may be added later. Scope of Work We want the freelancer to help us: 1. Audit our existing Fusion/CAM Assist environment Review our current Fusion setup, tool libraries, machine configurations, holders, cutting data, CAM Assist configuration, posts, and current programming workflow. Identify what is missing, duplicated, incorrectly configured, or preventing CAM Assist from performing properly. 2. Build a clean Master Tool Library Create or clean up our Fusion tool library using the actual tooling we run in the shop. Tools must be properly assembled with the correct holders. Library should include, as applicable: • Indexable face mills • Indexable end mills • Solid carbide end mills • Roughing end mills • Ball end mills • Chamfer mills • Spot drills • Carbide drills • Indexable drills • Thread mills • Taps • (WE ARE OPEN TO MOST BRANDS BUT WANT IT STANDARDIZED) Tool geometry must be correct, including actual cutting diameter versus overall insert/holder diameter where applicable. We would like a clean and consistent tool-numbering and naming system that is easy for programmers and operators to understand. 3. Build Accurate Tool Holder Assemblies Model/select the holders we actually use and properly assemble tools in Fusion. We want accurate: • Holder geometry • Gauge length • Stick-out • Shank dimensions • Cutting dimensions • Collision representation 4. Configure Materials and Cutting Parameters Set up practical baseline cutting data for materials we commonly machine, including: • 1018 / mild steel • 4140 pre-hard / heat-treated • 316 stainless • Aluminum • Tool steels We want the setup to work properly with CloudNC Cutting Parameters while still reflecting real-world shop experience and machine capability. The freelancer should understand SFM, chip load, radial engagement, axial engagement, horsepower limitations, rigidity, tool stick-out, and appropriate roughing versus finishing parameters. 5. Configure Each Machine Make sure each machine is properly represented/configured so that CAM Assist understands which machine is being programmed. Machine-specific limitations and capabilities should be considered. Where practical, tooling should be standardized between machines while still allowing machine-specific restrictions. 6. Configure CloudNC CAM Assist Review and configure CAM Assist so it is properly using: • Correct machines • Correct tool libraries • Correct tool assemblies • Correct materials • Correct cutting parameters • Appropriate machining strategies • 3-axis machining • 3+2 machining where applicable • Shop-preferred tools and processes We are particularly interested in getting CAM Assist to consistently select sensible tools and strategies instead of requiring extensive cleanup after every generation. 7. Establish Shop Programming Standards Help establish reasonable defaults/preferences for: • Adaptive roughing • Pocketing • Facing • Contouring • Holemaking • Finishing • Chamfering • Rest machining • Steep/shallow machining • 3+2 machining • Tool engagement • Maximum stepdowns • Maximum stepover • Finishing stock • Minimum tool stick-out • Tool-selection priority The purpose is consistency—not blindly forcing every job into the same strategy. 8. Validate the System on Real Parts We want the final setup tested against several real parts that we have previously programmed and machined successfully. We will compare: • Tool selection • Machining strategy • Feeds and speeds • Cycle time • Number of operations • Tool changes • Program safety • Amount of manual editing required Settings should be adjusted based on these tests. 9. Documentation / Handoff At completion we want: • Organized Fusion tool libraries • Machine configurations • Material configuration • CAM Assist configuration • Explanation of the library structure • Naming/numbering convention • Short written procedure explaining how we should add future tools • Short written procedure explaining how we should add/change cutting data • Remote walkthrough/training session We do not want a system that only the freelancer understands. Remote Access This work can be completed remotely. We can provide controlled remote access to a workstation with Fusion 360 and CAM Assist installed. We prefer remote access rather than sharing our primary Autodesk login credentials. Customer-sensitive files will only be provided when required for testing. Required Experience Please apply only if you have strong experience with: • Autodesk Fusion Manufacturing/CAM • Professional Fusion tool-library creation • CNC milling • Tool holders and tool assemblies • Feeds and speeds • 3-axis milling • 3+2 machining • CNC machine configuration Experience specifically with CloudNC CAM Assist is strongly preferred. We are not looking for someone who only knows CAD modeling or basic hobby-level Fusion CAM. When Applying, Please Answer These Questions 1. Have you personally configured CloudNC CAM Assist in Autodesk Fusion? 2. Have you built complete professional Fusion tool libraries including tool holders? 3. Can you show an example or screenshots of a Fusion manufacturing/tool-library environment you have created? 4. What CNC machines have you programmed? 5. Are you comfortable configuring cutting parameters for steels, stainless steels, and aluminum? 6. Have you configured 3+2 machining? 7. How would you approach validating CAM Assist against an existing manually programmed part? 8. Would you be comfortable working through remote desktop access? 9. Are you willing to work interactively with experienced machinists and adjust the system based on actual machine results? Project Structure We would prefer to break the project into milestones: Milestone 1 — Audit & Plan Review current setup and provide recommended library/configuration structure. Milestone 2 — Tooling & Machines Build the core tool assemblies, holders, libraries, machines, and materials. Milestone 3 — CAM Assist Configuration Configure and optimize CAM Assist around the completed environment. Milestone 4 — Validation Run several known parts through the system and refine the settings. Milestone 5 — Documentation & Training Final cleanup, documentation, and remote walkthrough. If the project goes well, there may be continuing work as we add machines, tooling, and improve our automation. The objective is simple: We want Fusion + CloudNC CAM Assist set up like a professional production machine shop—not just installed with default settings.

The core of this job is building a reliable manufacturing environment in Fusion 360 tied to CloudNC CAM Assist, and I would start by configuring the machine tool libraries, post processors, and tool libraries within Fusion 360. I would pick Fusion 360's built-in machine library management and create custom post processors using its scripting tools, because this gives the most direct control to ensure the output matches your actual machines and shop preferences, which is what you are trying to do. I will import your existing machine models, define their kinematics, and set up your shop's specific tooling and holders in the library, so that CAM Assist has accurate data. This accuracy is critical for producing reliable, repeatable programs that are already close to what an experienced machinist would produce. I would assume your machines are standard 3-axis or 5-axis milling machines. How are you currently documenting your machine parameters and cutting data for use outside of Fusion 360? 5.0 rating across 10 reviews on here, and Preferred Freelancer status. I need access to your Fusion 360 manufacturing environment to begin.
