I drew a birch-ply desk schematic in SketchUp and, being a beginner, left a few problems in the file: several faces are inverted, a number of edges were never welded, and there may be other hidden issues. The overall dimensions are correct, so only minor adjustments are allowed; every part still has to fit together precisely once cut. Your job is to clean the model, make every surface manifold, orient all faces the right way, and be sure no loose or overlapping geometry survives. When the 3D file is solid you’ll create a layered 2D DXF that my CNC shop can load straight into their CAM software. The layers need to follow industry standards to indicate rabbets, dados, throughcuts, etc. You need to layout the pieces in the 2D file in to ensure that they cut properly, leaving space for the CNC bit to do the cutting properly, but conserving timber as much as possible. I need a designer with experience with CNC woodworking designs, knowledgeable about kerf and such things. I also want a 3D schematic so they have context of how it all works together. Not quite an assembly guide, but something similar. They expect one clear layer per operation, and they cut directly from the file, so accuracy must stay within ±0.1 mm. Deliverables • Corrected CAD & DXF files with no inverted faces or unwelded edges • Layer-organised DXF ready for CNC (inside cuts, outside cuts, drill holes, annotations, etc.) • A 3D rendering of how the pieces fit together • Notes note explaining any tweaks you made to the original design I’ll supply the original model as soon as we start and will review your first pass quickly so we can lock the final file. Let me know which CAD/CAM tools you prefer and your estimated turnaround time.

Dear Sir, I have extensive experience with CNC woodworking, 3D CAD cleanup, sheet/panel layouts, and production-ready DXF preparation. I can take your existing SketchUp desk model, correct the underlying geometry, and prepare a clean CNC-ready file while preserving your overall dimensions and design intent. I’ll inspect the model for inverted faces, unwelded or disconnected edges, duplicate/overlapping geometry, non-manifold surfaces, and other issues that could create problems during fabrication. I’ll make only the necessary adjustments and verify that the individual components fit together correctly. Once the 3D model is clean, I can create a layered 2D DXF with clearly separated operations such as through-cuts, internal cuts, dados, rabbets, drilling, and annotations. I’ll optimize the sheet layout for efficient material usage while maintaining appropriate spacing, tool clearance, and CNC routing requirements. I’ll also account for practical cutter diameter, kerf/tool compensation, and the required ±0.1 mm dimensional accuracy. The final package will include the corrected CAD model, organized CNC-ready DXF, 3D assembly/context schematic, and notes documenting any changes made to the original design. I can work with SketchUp and appropriate CAD/CAM tools for the cleanup and CNC preparation. Please send the original model and your CNC shop's layer/CAM standards, and I can review the file and confirm the turnaround time. Best Regards Ivy

Hi, I can clean and prepare your SketchUp desk model for CNC production while keeping the existing overall dimensions and making only the minor corrections necessary for proper assembly. I understand the key requirement is **production accuracy**, not redesign. I’ll inspect the model for inverted faces, unwelded/loose edges, overlapping geometry and other hidden issues, then rebuild or repair the affected areas so the geometry is clean and manifold. Once the 3D model is verified, I’ll create a **layer-organized CNC-ready DXF** with separate operations for through-cuts, internal cuts, rabbets, dados, drilling and annotations. I’ll also arrange the parts efficiently to conserve birch ply while maintaining adequate tool clearance and accounting for kerf/tool diameter where applicable. **Deliverables:** * Cleaned and corrected 3D CAD model * Production-ready layered DXF * CNC operation layers clearly separated * Accurate nesting/layout * ±0.1 mm dimensional accuracy * 3D assembly/context schematic * Notes documenting any changes made I can work with SketchUp and CAD/CAM workflows and will carefully verify the final geometry before delivery. I’d be happy to review the original file first and provide an estimated turnaround based on its actual condition. Portfolio: CreativeDesign50 Best regards, Kirandeep K

Hi, I can clean and prepare your SketchUp birch-ply desk model for accurate CNC fabrication while preserving the existing overall dimensions and making only necessary corrections. I’ll carefully inspect and repair: * Inverted faces and incorrect surface orientation * Unwelded, loose, overlapping or duplicate geometry * Non-manifold edges and hidden modelling issues * Part intersections, fit and assembly clearances * CNC tool access, kerf and machining allowances * Material-efficient nesting and sheet layout I can produce a corrected solid CAD model, a layered CNC-ready DXF with separate operations for through-cuts, inside cuts, dados, rabbets, drilling and annotations, plus a clear 3D assembly schematic showing how the parts fit together. I’ll maintain the required ±0.1 mm accuracy and document any design adjustments made during the cleanup. My preferred workflow is SketchUp for model correction, with AutoCAD/Fusion 360 or suitable CAM software for DXF preparation, nesting and CNC verification. Estimated turnaround: 3–5 days after receiving the original file and CNC layer standards. Please share the SketchUp model, birch-ply thickness, CNC bit details, sheet size and your shop’s DXF layer naming requirements so I can confirm the exact workflow and fixed quote. The main risk is inverted faces and unwelded edges causing a non-manifold model, so I will fix all geometry issues in SketchUp, ensure every surface is correctly oriented and manifold, and then check for loose or overlapping geometry to make the 3D file solid. I will then export a layered 2D DXF with industry-standard layers for rabbets, dados, and throughcuts, laying out all pieces to fit your CNC cut plan. What is your preferred layer naming convention for specific cut types? I need the SketchUp file to start. I have a 5.0 rating across 10 reviews and Preferred Freelancer status.

Hi, I can clean and prepare your birch-ply desk model for CNC production with a strong focus on dimensional accuracy and clean geometry. I understand that the overall dimensions must remain unchanged, with only minor corrections allowed to ensure every component fits precisely after cutting. I will work in Blender, SketchUp Web, FreeCAD or Open CAD Studio to: Repair inverted faces, unwelded edges, overlaps, gaps, and other hidden geometry issues Ensure all parts are manifold and watertight Verify dimensions and maintain the required ±0.1 mm accuracy Create a properly layered CNC-ready DXF with separate operations for through-cuts, inside/outside cuts, dados, rabbets, drilling, and annotations Nest/layout parts efficiently while allowing appropriate CNC bit clearance and minimizing material waste Provide notes documenting any corrections or tweaks made For the visual assembly/context, I will use Blender to create a clear 3D schematic showing how the pieces fit together. I can review your original SketchUp file as soon as you provide it and deliver an initial pass quickly for your review before finalizing the CNC files.
