I need a concise engineering study that quantifies the difference between the chemical energy stored in a 100 kg pig and the external energy required to completely oxidise that mass under super-critical water conditions. The single objective is to understand the overall energy balance of the process; efficiency validation or broader process optimisation are outside this scope. All temperature-and-pressure readings taken during previous supercritical runs are available online and I will share the links the moment we start. If additional physical property data or equations of state are needed, point me toward the preferred sources and I will secure access. Your task is to translate those operating readings into a clear set of calculations that: • establish the enthalpy content (stored energy) of a representative 100 kg pig carcass, • determine the net energy input required to reach and maintain supercritical conditions until full oxidation is achieved, and • present the resulting energy differential in both absolute (kJ) and relative (%) terms. Please document all assumptions, thermodynamic correlations and reaction stoichiometry you employ, then deliver both the working model (spreadsheet or similar) and a brief report summarising methods, results and conclusions. I will validate the numbers against the raw data, so transparency in your calculations is essential. Our "proof of concept" testing with a small rodent resulted in only a slight increase in pressure, and no increase in temperature. Our only logical assumption is that the energy balance must be similar, if not we would have expected a temperature spike.

Hi, I understand you need a clear energy balance for completely oxidising a representative 100 kg pig in supercritical water. I will use the available temperature and pressure readings to define the operating path, then calculate the carcass enthalpy, reaction stoichiometry, heating and pressure-related energy demands, and the net difference in kJ and percentage terms. I will make every assumption visible, including moisture and composition, reference state, heat losses, water properties, and the selected equations of state. The calculations will be built as a transparent working model so you can trace each result back to an input or formula. I will also compare the result with the rodent observation and clearly explain whether the available data supports that conclusion, without expanding into optimisation or efficiency validation. The final delivery will include the calculation model and a brief report covering the method, results, limitations, and conclusions. What exact reactor volume, initial water mass, operating temperature and pressure, heating method, and heat-loss information should be included in the energy balance? I can also identify suitable thermodynamic property sources if the supplied run data does not contain everything needed.

The constraint is quantifying the difference between stored chemical energy in 100 kg pig mass and external energy for complete supercritical oxidation. I will use the provided online temperature and pressure readings, also I will consult standard chemical engineering handbooks like Perry's for specific heat and enthalpy data of constituent elements in the pig, calculating the total stored chemical energy. Then, I'll determine the energy input required for supercritical water conditions at the observed operating pressures and temperatures, also accounting for the energy needed to overcome reaction enthalpy using NIST REFPROP for water properties if additional equations of state are necessary. The failure this job hits is miscalculating the reaction enthalpy, leading to an inaccurate energy balance. I will verify all stoichiometric calculations and ensure consistent units throughout. I am a Preferred Freelancer with a 5.0 rating over 10 reviews, delivered on time and on budget each time. What was the specific range of pressures and temperatures recorded in previous runs? Once I have that, I will send back a document detailing the calculated energy difference, with clear calculation steps.

I am interested in working on your Supercritical Oxidation Energy Balance project and can develop a clear, accurate, and well-structured energy balance for the system. I can analyze the process streams, feed composition, operating temperature and pressure, reaction conditions, and relevant thermodynamic properties to establish the overall energy requirements and heat generation of the supercritical oxidation process. My approach will include defining the system boundaries, identifying all major energy inputs and outputs, accounting for reaction enthalpy, sensible heat, heat losses, and any required heating or cooling duties. Where appropriate, I can incorporate thermodynamic calculations for supercritical water and reaction products and present the calculations in a transparent format so that the assumptions, equations, and results can be easily reviewed and verified. I will deliver a technically sound energy-balance calculation with organized tables, equations, assumptions, and final results. I can also use Excel, MATLAB, Python, or another preferred engineering tool for the calculations and provide a concise explanation of the methodology and findings. My focus will be on accuracy, consistency of units, and producing a professional deliverable that can be directly used in your engineering analysis or report.

I can deliver a transparent engineering study quantifying the energy balance of oxidising a 100 kg pig carcass under super‑critical water conditions. My approach will start with a composition model (protein, fat, water fractions) to estimate the chemical enthalpy content via standard heats of combustion. Using your logged temperature/pressure data, I’ll calculate the external enthalpy input required to reach and maintain super‑critical conditions until full oxidation. All assumptions, stoichiometry, and thermodynamic correlations (IAPWS‑IF97 or NIST REFPROP) will be documented. Deliverables include: (1) a working spreadsheet model with step‑by‑step calculations, (2) a brief report summarising methods, results, and conclusions, and (3) the final energy differential expressed in both kJ and % terms. I’ve conducted similar energy balance and thermodynamic feasibility studies for biomass and waste‑to‑energy projects, ensuring reproducibility and clarity for validation against raw data. My focus is on accuracy, transparency, and clear reasoning, not broad process optimisation, so you’ll have a solid basis to judge viability. Ready to begin immediately once operating readings and property data sources are shared.

Good day! I specialize in chemical/process engineering thermodynamics, and this project fits squarely within that expertise -- energy balances around phase-change and oxidation processes are core process-engineering work. My approach: I will establish the enthalpy content of the 100 kg carcass from standard combustion/caloric-value correlations for animal tissue, then compute the net energy input needed to bring the system to supercritical water conditions (about 374C / 22.1 MPa) and sustain it through complete oxidation, using IAPWS-IF97 steam-table correlations and published supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) kinetics and stoichiometry. Once you share the temperature-and-pressure logs from your prior runs, I will cross-check the model against that real data rather than relying on literature values alone. Deliverables: - A documented spreadsheet model with every assumption, correlation and stoichiometric step laid out -- this is the best option because you can trace every number back to its source and re-run it yourself if an input changes. - A short report summarising the method and the resulting energy differential in both kJ and percent, including a discussion of whether your rodent proof-of-concept (pressure rise, no temperature rise) is consistent with the full-scale balance -- this is the best option because it gives you a defensible answer you can hand to others without re-deriving the physics yourself. Suggested milestone breakdown (total: GBP 250, 4 days): - M1 - GBP 50 (20%): assumptions and governing-equations memo for your sign-off (day 1) - M2 - GBP 100 (40%): working spreadsheet model -- enthalpy content and net energy input - M3 - GBP 100 (40%): final report with the energy differential (kJ and %) and the rodent-test discussion Fund M1 to start, release when happy, then fund the next. Standard Freelancer escrow -- protects both of us. Ready to begin the moment you award and fund M1. I scope every job realistically before bidding, so what I promise here is exactly what you'll get -- no surprises once we're underway.

Please read this Your approach might be favourable but wouldn't it be more effective if we focused on the specific thermodynamic properties of the pig carcass instead? By concentrating on the unique energy characteristics of the 100 kg mass, we can achieve a more accurate energy balance. This will help clarify the enthalpy content and net energy input needed for supercritical oxidation. I have further ideas and strategies to enhance this study and I am open to discussing them, even if it doesn’t lead to payment. Just wanted to know: what is the deadline for this study? Hi, this sounds like an interesting thermodynamic modelling project, and I’d be glad to work through it with you. My Master’s research was in environmental biochemistry, where I worked on wastewater treatment, pollutant removal, enzyme activity and experimental data interpretation, so I’m comfortable working with environmental process data and translating experimental observations into clear calculations. For this project, I can build a transparent working model from the supercritical operating data, document the assumptions, reaction stoichiometry, thermodynamic correlations and property sources, and calculate the stored chemical energy, energy required to reach and maintain the operating conditions, and final energy differential in kJ and %. I’ll keep the calculations traceable so you can validate each step against the raw readings, and provide the spreadsheet/model alongside a concise technical report. I’m also comfortable working iteratively if you have preferred data sources or equations of state and can incorporate your feedback during the project.

Before we quote firmly, one question: what is the end application - pet or human aquamation, livestock disposal, or biohazard waste? It changes the assumptions more than anything else, because "complete oxidation" means something different when you must certify residue-free output than when you only want mass reduction. Your rodent result makes sense to us, and the numbers will show why. The carcass is mostly water, so the heat the oxidation releases gets spread across the reactor water and the steel vessel, and the temperature barely moves. How we would do it: - Stored energy: split the 100 kg carcass into water, fat, protein and ash from published proximate data, then work out the heat of combustion dry and as received. The body water eats a good part of it. - Energy in: heat the carcass plus reactor water from ambient to your operating point using IAPWS-IF97 steam properties, then add pressurisation work, oxygen supply and a realistic allowance for vessel and heat losses. - Compare the two in kJ and percent, with sensitivity to fat content and water-to-carcass ratio, since that is what moves the answer. You get an Excel model where every cell is visible and editable, plus a short report with assumptions, correlations, stoichiometry and sources, so you can check it against your own run data. One thing we need early: the reactor's water-to-carcass ratio and the vessel's own mass. The steel soaks up a lot of the heat. 380 GBP, 5 days. CORE team
