Draw a structural framing plan and elevation as the one shown in Fig P2.8 (4th Edition of Text
Book) for a five-storey building assuming suitable dimensions in SI units preferably rectangular
slab panels (for e.g. 3m X 4m with storey height of 3m).
The analysis needs to be carried out for support conditions of columns at base story for both
a) Fixed at base and
b) Pin supported columns
Assume suitable size of reinforce concrete beams and columns (for e.g. 300 X 450 mm), slab
thickness (for e.g. 150 mm).
If the above building is to be used an office building, assume suitable live loads and
superimposed dead for finishes and ceiling.
Assume suitable grade of concrete and steel.
Note that these columns and the beams are called gravity frames not designed to resist lateral
