The marks available for coursework in 6087 are 30% of the module mark. This document describes the digital part of the coursework.
This piece of work is designed to allow students to demonstrate achievement assessed against the three of the six module learning outcomes (numbers refer to learning outcomes 1-6).
3. Design and test electronic circuits and systems to given specifications taking into account practical and commercial constraints on implementation.
4. Use appropriate computer aided design packages for design capture and simulation/verification/synthesis of designs.
5. Use personal skills typically in the form of team work and project management applied to system design and implementation.
6. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, the outcomes of design and investigative work.

The work is to be undertaken as a group assignment. Please send me the names of your group members (group sizes of either 2 or 3) by email on or before the first day of semester II 2013
Assessment and feedback will utilise a "rubric" sheet as a guide. This will be given out and discussed in class.
The assignment is to design, test, build and demonstrate a working implementation of an electronic game utilising the Altera DE2 development board. The game play must be displayed on a VGA display and controlled by a keyboard and/or a mouse all connected and controlled by the Altera DE2 board. Designs must use Quartus 2 and VHDL as the CAD tool for development.
Students should prepare a brief report on their work and also demonstrate their game.
Note a number of similar game designs for the DE2 have been published you may use these designs to help in development but you must ensure your game is not plagiarised from other’s work. If in doubt ask!
