I require a software which will measure distances through two webcams, similarly to (or exactly the same as) this example : [url removed, login to view]
There will be fifteen points on the screen. See attached image [url removed, login to view] for where they should be. They do not need to be positioned exactly as I have shown them, as close as reasonably possible will do. The position of the points are based on what is seen through camera 1.
Ideally, anything within 2.5 meters must not be within 3 cm of accuracy. 3. Anything further between 2.5 meters and 30 must be accurate to the nearest meter. Anything further away does not to be measured, as long as it is recognised as being over 30 meters. Anything closer than 10 cm can just be written as 0, though if this distance can also give me an accurate measurement that would be good.
If you feel you can deliver the software, but with slightly less accuracy, I may still be interested. Just state so in your bid with the level of accuracy you think you can achieve.
The distance of whatever is at each of the crosshairs will be written to txt files.
Each crosshair has a corresponding txt file. The information will be stored to 15 txt files, which will be in the same directory as the main exe. They will be named [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view] etc up to dist15.txt. At least 3 times a second the distance at each corresponding point will write to it’s txt file. It will overwrite the previous distance stored there.
Note : The distance of whatever is in each of the crosshairs must be recorded. This includes walls and any surface, not just objects.
It may be best to do this project using opencv, but any method where it works will be fine.
The webcams I will be using are two Logitech HD Webcam C615, though I should be able to run this software with any cams.
I do not require a display of what the camera is seeing as long as the distances are received and written to the txt files.
I assume there will need to be a calibration system to setup the webcams and software correctly. I will let you use whatever method you feel is appropriate for this as long as you also include instructions for me.
Although a high rate of accuracy is of course desirable, in practice I only require around 80% accuracy (perhaps less).
I required a fully compiled, ready to run exe of the program as well as the source code.
Ideally, the software should be written in c++, but if you can make an effective version using a different language, I don't mind.
The software will be running on windows 7.

I did an opencv stereo distance detection and object sizing project a few months back that used similar (1-4 meter) range (for my testing at least)...
Hello there! I have some experience with stereo cameras and OpenCV, and I can surely help you with this project. Please check the private message I sent for some clarifications.
