This is a preliminary inquiry about the feasibility of a possible project. We are not ready to proceed with it quite yet, and we are not providing detailed specs at this point--but if you can do it, we might be able to proceed quite soon.
To introduce ourselves, we are the Learning, Attention, and Perception lab at Univ of California, San Diego. You can find us at laplab dot ucsd dot edu.
We would be interested in a MS Word add-on to alter the functioning of Word in a way that would allow us to perform experiments on user behavior. The add-on would need to be able to identify when the user was clicking on particular commands, and to alter or cancel the functionality of these commands, while providing specific feedback (displaying popup windows or other messages) to the subject. We would also need for the system to log the time the user executed particular commands.
If I understand correctly, this would be programmed in VBA?
Please indicate whether you would be able to do this, whether it would interest you, and whether the kinds of tasks I describe would be very difficult.
