"I review every entry against the originals" tells me what actually matters here, and it's the reason I'd approach this the way I do. I key from scans into fixed templates as a regular part of my job in Abu Dhabi, in a fleet operations role where the output goes to management and a regulator, so a typo isn't a small thing. Spelling, capitalisation and line breaks reproduced as they appear on the page, not tidied up to what I assume was meant. My working method: enter first, then a separate verification pass reading the scan against the spreadsheet rather than the other way round. Reading your own typing back is how errors survive - the eye supplies what it expects to see. Reading from the source forces every field to be checked on its own. It costs a little more time and it's why your review pass should come back clean. Two things I won't do silently: correct an apparent spelling error in the printed original, or reformat something to look neater than the source. Both would break the word-for-word match you're checking against. If I spot something that looks wrong on the page, I'll list it separately and let you decide. To size this honestly I'd need to know roughly how many pages there are, and whether the scans are typed print or include any handwritten entries - handwriting is considerably slower and I'd rather say so now than surprise you on the hours.
