I’m ready to move my real-time data processing into Databricks and need a specialist who can build a robust streaming pipeline end-to-end. The source will be Apache Kafka; events arrive continuously and must be processed, transformed, and stored inside the Databricks environment with low latency and solid fault tolerance. You’ll design the job structure, configure Structured Streaming, handle schema evolution, and implement checkpoints so that the pipeline restarts cleanly after failures. I also want concise notebook-based documentation that shows how the pipeline is triggered, how it scales, and where metrics can be monitored in the workspace. Deliverables • A working Databricks notebook (or repo) that ingests from our existing Kafka topics, performs necessary transformations, and writes the results to our designated target (Delta format inside our lakehouse). • Automated cluster or job configuration files so the pipeline can be deployed to test and production workspaces without manual tweaks. • README or in-notebook commentary that explains setup steps, configuration parameters, and how to extend the pipeline with additional topics in the future. I’ll test the hand-off by running the notebook against a staged Kafka topic; acceptance is complete when new events appear in Delta within our agreed SLA and the pipeline passes a restart test. If you’ve tuned Structured Streaming against Kafka before and can demonstrate previous success with Databricks, let’s get started.

You need a Kafka to Databricks Structured Streaming pipeline that processes continuous events with low latency, reliable checkpoints, schema handling, and clean recovery into Delta Lake. I have strong experience with Apache Kafka, real-time data pipelines, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS, and event-driven processing, including real-time pipeline work at Marin Software. I can structure the Databricks job around Kafka ingestion, transformations, schema evolution, checkpointing, Delta writes, and restart-safe processing, with configuration separated so the same pipeline can move between test and production. I will also provide concise notebook documentation and deployment configuration covering parameters, scaling, monitoring, and adding future topics. I

Hi, I can build your end-to-end Databricks streaming pipeline from Kafka to Delta Lake with low latency, fault tolerance, clean restart behavior, and production-ready deployment configuration. I can handle: • Kafka ingestion with Structured Streaming • Schema validation and evolution • Transformations and enrichment • Delta Lake writes with optimized partitioning • Checkpointing and restart recovery • Exactly-once / idempotent processing patterns • Watermarking and late-event handling where needed • Error handling and dead-letter strategy • Streaming metrics and monitoring • Test + production job configuration • Parameterized deployment across environments • Notebook/repo documentation • README for setup, scaling, monitoring, and adding new topics I’m comfortable with Databricks, Spark Structured Streaming, Kafka, Delta Lake, ETL, checkpointing, schema evolution, cluster/job configuration, and production data pipelines. I’ll first review your Kafka topic structure, message format, SLA, transformation rules, and target Delta schema, then build the pipeline so staged events land in Delta reliably and the restart test passes cleanly. Databricks Structured Streaming has a hard limit worth knowing up front: maxOffsetsPerTrigger and the Kafka source's own rate limiting only get you so far if a topic partition count changes mid-flight, since a repartition on the source side without care invalidates checkpoint offset mappings. That's the actual risk zone in a build like this, not the ingestion itself. For restart-safety I'd checkpoint against DBFS or a mounted cloud path (not local disk, which doesn't survive cluster recycling), use foreachBatch with idempotent Delta MERGE where the schema allows it, and set failOnDataLoss=false deliberately only after confirming retention windows on the Kafka side won't silently drop data you needed. Schema evolution I'd handle with mergeSchema on the Delta writer plus a Kafka schema registry read (or Avro/JSON envelope parsing with an explicit evolution policy) so a new field doesn't kill the stream mid-run, and rescuedDataColumn so anything unexpected lands somewhere visible instead of getting dropped. On the operational side: the Jobs API config is where most of these pipelines actually fail people, because a notebook that works interactively often has hardcoded widget values that don't survive a scheduled run. I'd build the job definition with parameterized cluster configs from the start, one job JSON for test and one for prod that differ only in cluster size and topic names, so promotion is a config swap and not a re-click of the UI. Deliverables: the streaming notebook itself, the two Jobs API configs (test/prod) as deployable JSON, and inline documentation covering the checkpoint recovery behavior and what happens on a schema change event. M1: Kafka source setup, checkpointed streaming skeleton with restart validation, $16,500, 2 days. M2: Schema evolution handling, Delta sink with merge logic, error/rescue path, $16,500, 2 days. M3: Jobs API configs for test and prod, notebook documentation, end to end validation run, $17,000, 1 day. The 5 day timeline assumes the Kafka topics and target Delta tables are already provisioned and reachable from a Databricks workspace I have access to; if there's a VPC peering or private link setup still pending, that's the piece that would move the number and the schedule both.

You need more than a basic Kafka-to-Delta connection—you need a streaming pipeline that can run reliably, recover cleanly after failures, and be handed over without creating maintenance problems. I can work through the pipeline end-to-end: Kafka ingestion, Structured Streaming transformations, schema handling, checkpoint configuration, Delta writes, and the deployment/documentation structure. I’ll keep the notebook organized and configurable so additional Kafka topics can be introduced without rebuilding the pipeline from scratch. I’ll also make the job/cluster configuration reproducible across test and production environments and document the key parameters, triggering, scaling and monitoring points. For validation, I’ll test the staged Kafka topic, verify that events reach Delta within the agreed latency, and perform a restart/failure test before hand-off. If you share the Kafka topic structure, expected event schema and target Delta layout, I can outline the implementation approach before we begin.

Hi, a Databricks Structured Streaming job that reads your Kafka topics and lands clean Delta tables inside a latency SLA. The part that breaks in production is schema evolution and getting checkpoints to recover cleanly after a bad batch, not the happy path ingestion. What's your expected event volume and how tight is the latency SLA? My team has built Kafka to Delta pipelines before, tuned for checkpoint recovery and schema drift, plus cluster configs that move cleanly from test to production. I can start with the ingestion and checkpoint layer as a first milestone so you can see it recover from a kill test before we build the rest. Regards, Mariam

Two of your requirements pull against each other, and it's worth settling how before the first line of code. Checkpoints and schema evolution. A Structured Streaming checkpoint pins the query's schema. Let the Kafka payload grow a field and the running query carries on with the old shape, and on restart against a changed schema the checkpoint can refuse to resume at all. So the query that faces Kafka should have a schema that never changes.. land the raw value as bytes or string into a bronze Delta table, and do the evolution one hop downstream, where mergeSchema on the silver write takes new columns without touching the checkpoint. That is what stops clean restarts and schema drift fighting each other. Two smaller things that decide whether restart is actually clean. The checkpoint path has to be unique per query and on durable storage, because two queries sharing one directory corrupt each other silently. And startingOffsets means one thing on first run and nothing on restart, which surprises people during exactly the handoff test you've described. For test and prod without manual tweaks I'd use Databricks Asset Bundles, with topic names and target paths parameterised per environment. Notebook documented inline, metrics from the streaming query listener written to a small monitoring table you can query. One question.. are the Kafka payloads Avro with a schema registry, or JSON? That decides whether schema evolution is a config setting or a design problem. Ronak

You want Kafka events landing in Delta with low latency and a clean restart, so I'd build it as a Databricks Structured Streaming job reading from your existing topics, decoding the payload against a schema registry (or explicit schema) with mergeSchema for evolution, applying your transforms, then writing to Delta with checkpointing so it resumes exactly-once after a kill. I'd wire the cluster/job spec into Databricks Asset Bundles (or a job JSON) so test and prod deploy identically with no manual edits, and document trigger mode, autoscaling, and where to watch the streaming metrics right in the notebook. I've built long-running scraping/automation pipelines with fault handling and clean structured output, so restart-safety and idempotent writes are familiar ground. To size the write side correctly: are your Kafka events keyed for upserts into Delta, or is this an append-only ingest?

Kafka into Delta on Databricks with Structured Streaming, clean restarts from checkpoints, and a restart test as acceptance: that is the scope I will build. Delivery: (1) PySpark notebook plus repo that reads your Kafka topics, applies the transformations, handles schema evolution with mergeSchema and a quarantine path for malformed records, writes Delta with checkpointing and exactly-once semantics; (2) job and cluster JSON for test and production, parameterised through job parameters and secret scopes, no manual edits; (3) in-notebook commentary and README covering trigger modes, autoscaling, adding topics, and where to read streaming metrics in the workspace. v1 (ingest plus Delta write plus restart test passing on your staged topic) within 4 working days. I do not promise a specific latency SLA before seeing your event volume and cluster size. Which Kafka auth do you use, SASL/SSL or plain, and is Unity Catalog enabled? Price: 30000 INR fixed · Timeline: 8 working days from access/brief Konrad

I’m Krishnagopal Kar, a Data Engineer with Databricks certification and 6+ years of experience in real‑time data pipelines. I’ve built end‑to‑end streaming solutions using Apache Kafka + Databricks Structured Streaming, handling schema evolution, checkpoints, and Delta Lake integration with low latency and fault tolerance. - Deliverables I’ll provide: • Production‑ready Databricks notebook/repo ingesting Kafka topics → Delta Lakehouse • Automated cluster/job configs for test & prod • Clear README/in‑notebook documentation for setup, scaling, and monitoring Before starting, could you clarify: 1. Which Databricks workspace tier (Standard, Premium, Enterprise) are you using? 2. Do you already have Delta Lake tables defined, or should I design the schema? 3. Should monitoring be integrated with Databricks metrics only, or external tools (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana)? I can ensure your pipeline is robust, restart‑safe, and well‑documented for future scaling.

Hi, I'm an Azure Data Engineer with hands-on production experience building exactly this kind of pipeline — Kafka into Databricks Structured Streaming, writing to Delta Lake with a Bronze/Silver/Gold (Medallion) architecture. I built and ran a healthcare claims pipeline on this same stack (Kafka, ADF, ADLS Gen2, Databricks, Delta Lake), so schema evolution, checkpointing, and clean restarts after failure are things I've already solved in production, not just in theory. My approach: Structured Streaming job reading your Kafka topics, with a mergeSchema/schema-hint strategy so new fields don't break ingestion. Checkpointed, exactly-once writes to Delta, split Bronze/Silver/Gold so the restart test passes cleanly and the pipeline stays auditable. Job/cluster config as code (Databricks Asset Bundle or JSON/YAML + deploy script) so it promotes to prod without manual tweaks. In-notebook + README docs covering setup, config params, scaling behavior, where to watch metrics (Spark UI, streaming query progress, job runs), and how to add topics later. I'll validate against your staged Kafka topic and specifically test the restart/failure scenario before handoff, not just claim it works. Happy to align on target SLA and topic volume on a quick call. Ready to start immediately.
