The same person appears as "J. Smith" and "John Smith", the same company with and without "Ltd", the same email with different capitalisation, the same phone with spaces, dashes or a country code. Removing only identical rows leaves the duplicates that actually bother you in the CRM, and merging too aggressively silently deletes two real people who share a surname. So I match on normalised keys — email lowercased, phone reduced to digits with country code resolved, company name stripped of legal suffixes — and anything that matches on one key but conflicts on another comes back to you as a short "please confirm" list rather than being merged or dropped on my judgement. Nothing disappears silently. Rows also get counted: contacts found per file against rows in the file, so you can see nothing was skipped, and the odd cases you asked about come with the filename and cell reference. Send me two files, including the untidiest, and I will return the consolidated sheet before you commit. One question: when two records conflict, which source wins — the newest file, or a specific one you trust most?

Dedupe on company and three people at the same firm collapse into one row, so two real contacts go missing, which is exactly what you want to avoid. CRMs keep them apart too: people as contacts, firms as companies. So you'd get one row per person with the company in its own column, plus a list of unique companies if your CRM imports those. Every sheet is read by script, hidden rows, filtered rows and hidden sheets included, since that's where contacts get missed when scrolling. Fields stay as they appear, each row keeps its file, sheet and row number, and duplicates are matched on email and phone with spaces and case cleaned.
