I have a Node.js backend running in Elastic Beanstalk (EC2 instances) that relies on ElastiCache Redis for chat and socket traffic. Both services live inside the same VPC, the Redis endpoint listens on 6379, and my Redis security group is already open to the backend security group. Outbound rules on the backend are wide-open. Despite this, the application log is flooded with: Redis error: connect ETIMEDOUT So far I have: • double-checked every security-group rule, and • confirmed that each component sits in the correct VPC and subnets. I need an experienced AWS/DevOps engineer to dig deeper, explain the most probable causes of ETIMEDOUT in this scenario, point out (and ideally correct) any missing network layers—NACLs, route-table entries, subnet selection, DNS settings, IAM policies, or anything else that can block or throttle the connection—and show me how to test connectivity properly from the EC2 instances to the Redis cluster (telnet/nc, redis-cli, VPC Reachability Analyzer, etc.). Deliverables • Clear diagnosis of the root cause • Step-by-step remediation or configuration changes (with CLI or console screenshots/commands) • A short validation checklist so I can confirm the fix in the future If you’ve untangled similar AWS networking puzzles before, let’s get this solved quickly.

Hello, I can diagnose and resolve your Elastic Beanstalk → ElastiCache Redis `connect ETIMEDOUT` issue by tracing every network layer (subnets/AZs, route tables, NACLs, DNS, Redis cluster mode/endpoints, TLS/auth, EB instance SG association, and reachability) and pinpointing the exact block. I’ll provide step-by-step remediation with commands (nc/telnet/redis-cli, VPC Reachability Analyzer) plus a short validation checklist so you can confirm connectivity and prevent this in future deployments.

Hello, I’m a AWS/DevOps engineer with hands-on experience debugging Elastic Beanstalk - ElastiCache Redis connectivity issues in production. ETIMEDOUT errors typically stem from deeper networking layers such as NACLs blocking ephemeral ports, subnet/AZ mismatches, route-table issues, or DNS/VPC settings, not just security groups. I will methodically trace the network path using VPC Reachability Analyzer, EC2-level tests (nc, telnet, redis-cli), and Redis configuration checks. I’ll identify the exact failure point and explain why the timeout occurs. You’ll receive step-by-step remediation via AWS Console or CLI. I’ll also verify Redis limits, parameter groups, and EB networking behavior. Finally, I’ll provide a validation checklist to prevent future regressions. Clear diagnosis, fast resolution, no guesswork. Looking forward to solving this efficiently.

Hello, I can help you diagnose and resolve the Redis ETIMEDOUT issue between your Elastic Beanstalk (EC2) backend and ElastiCache Redis within the same VPC. From experience, when security groups and VPC placement are already correct, ETIMEDOUT errors are usually caused by deeper networking layers or runtime configuration issues rather than Redis itself. I’ll approach this systematically instead of guessing. What I will investigate: • End-to-end network path between EC2 instances and the ElastiCache cluster • Subnet selection (public vs private) and route table associations • Network ACL rules (inbo

Hello, I’ve worked extensively with AWS networking, Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, and ElastiCache (Redis), and I’ve troubleshot multiple production incidents involving Redis ETIMEDOUT errors under similar architectures. From your description, this is very likely not a simple security-group issue, but a deeper VPC networking or infrastructure configuration problem—something I routinely handle in AWS environments. I can quickly identify the root cause and provide a clear, production-safe fix using AWS best practices.

Hello, I’m an AWS Certified DevOps Engineer with strong hands-on experience troubleshooting VPC-level connectivity issues in AWS, especially involving Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, and ElastiCache Redis. Based on your description, this is very likely not a basic security-group issue. ETIMEDOUT errors in this setup are usually caused by deeper networking or configuration layers, such as: • Subnet or route-table misalignment between EB and Redis • Network ACL rules blocking ephemeral ports • Redis deployed in isolated subnets with incorrect routing assumptions • DNS or VPC DHCP option misconfiguration • Using the wrong Redis endpoint (node vs primary / cluster mode) • Connection exhaustion, maxclients, or socket backlog limits • Elastic Beanstalk scaling into unintended subnets What I will deliver ✅ Clear root-cause diagnosis (no guesswork) ✅ End-to-end VPC path analysis (subnets, routes, NACLs, DNS) ✅ Hands-on connectivity testing from EC2 using: redis-cli nc / telnet VPC Reachability Analyzer CloudWatch & Redis metrics ✅ Step-by-step remediation (AWS Console + CLI commands) ✅ A future validation checklist to prevent this issue during scaling or redeployments If you’d like, I can start immediately and walk you through the findings live or asynchronously. As an experienced AWS Solutions Architect, I specialize in resolving complex VPC networking bottlenecks like your ElastiCache timeouts. Since your Security Groups are verified, I will investigate the "hidden" layers: NACL ingress/egress boundaries, subnet routing (cross-AZ latency or asymmetric routing), and Redis Cluster Mode DNS resolution. My Approach: Deep Trace: Use VPC Reachability Analyzer to map the hop-by-hop path. Diagnostic Suite: Run nc -zv and redis-cli from your EB instances to isolate protocol vs. network failures. Config Audit: Verify MTU settings and ElastiCache "In-transit encryption" requirements.

As a DevOps Engineer with 4 years of experience specializing in AWS networking services—including VPC architecture, Route53, Security Groups, and NACL. I’m confident I can quickly resolve your ElastiCache connectivity issue. In my previous role as a Cloud Engineer for 3 years on AWS infrastructure. Beyond the security groups and VPC placement you’ve already verified, I’ll systematically trace the problem through several overlooked layers: First, I’ll see your Network ACLs for ephemeral port rules (1024-65535) which are frequently misconfigured and block return traffic. I’ll inspect the ElastiCache subnet group configuration and ENI attachment status in each AZ. I’ll then use AWS VPC Reachability Analyzer to pinpoint the exact failure point. Please let me know if you want to further discuss about the things. Warm Regards Parvesh Negi

Hi, I’ve handled this exact ETIMEDOUT issue with Elastic Beanstalk + ElastiCache Redis before, and in my experience, once SGs and VPC match, the problem is almost always hidden in a deeper network layer—not Redis itself. I’m a DevOps engineer with hands-on AWS experience, debugging: Subnet placement & AZ mismatches Route table associations NACLs blocking 6379 or ephemeral ports VPC DNS resolution issues ElastiCache specifics (cluster mode, TLS, AUTH, parameter groups) Connection limits or socket exhaustion EB environment/network quirks How I’ll approach this: Test connectivity directly from EC2 using nc, telnet, and redis-cli Validate traffic paths using VPC Reachability Analyzer Audit NACLs, route tables, and subnet selection Verify DNS resolution and Redis metrics Identify the actual root cause and fix it cleanly I’ve resolved similar issues earlier, so I’m confident we can move fast. I’d prefer we sit together on a screen-share and debug live—this kind of problem is quickest that way. Honestly, this isn’t about money for me. These AWS networking puzzles are a thrill to solve, and I’m happy to help get this stable and production-ready. You’ll get: Clear root-cause explanation Step-by-step remediation A short validation checklist for future checks I can start immediately ( I am also from jaipur). — Dilip
