Hi there, i am the owner of a web developing company. We have configured apache in such a way that it maps requests in the form of http://.[url removed, login to view] to a specific folder. In order to do so we have configured a wildcard in our DNS server to point *.[url removed, login to view] to the ip address 192.168.1.250. Now i want my clients to also be able to preview their website using that same domainname so the DNS server should point to our public ip address. This would work directly, if i set the public ip address in the DNS server it is working but there is one big problem. When we call a domainname, we get to see the configuration page of our router. The router does nog have an option to modify this behavior.
The following sollution would be perfect for us: I want a local server to become a dns server. That server should just pretend it is the dns server for *.[url removed, login to view] and serve us locally the ip address 192.168.1.250.
It has to be a wildcard, no manual configuration after it has been set up.
I don't care about the sollution as long as it works. We have an Ubuntu server and a Windows server, both may host the software. (preferably the Ubuntu sevrer)

Hi there, i am very interested to complete this project. please see my past reviews related to system administration lets complete this project
Hi, I can set up powerdns and poweradmin for you on the Ubuntu server. You will be able to control the dns server using a web interface Let me know if you are interested Thanks
Will use ubuntu and bind9 as the DNS server (this feature http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch7/view.html) For the external clients from the internet we wll need to setup port forwarding on the router
