In this project you will develop a software system to model the output of a solar array. The focus
will be on small, home installations. The system would potentially be used by home owners to
determine the benefits of installing solar panels at their home.
To calculate the output from a solar array you need to know:
how many watts of electricity the solar panels are rated to output,
the orientation of the panels and the loss of efficiency when not pointing due north,
the installation angle of the panels and the loss of efficiency when not at an appropriate angle,
the length of wiring involved from the panels to the inverter, and power loss from the cables,
the efficiency of the inverter,
the projected decline in efficiency of the panels over time, and
the daily average number of hours of sunlight at the installation location.
Your solution should be a general solution allowing a user to enter the appropriate data to generate
the result. Minimally, your output should indicate the number of watts of power output by the
inverter per day and year for each year of the expected 25 year life‐span of a solar panel.
