Hi, Can someone guide me to dump memory of Nation mcu n32g455rel7 please? I see a bdm pinout on board i am trying to read that says "gnd, clk, dio and 3.3v" also find reset pin for the mcu if its similar to stm32F411RET6 if i understand correctly. Tried to connect with stlinkv3 but dont seem to be able to connect for debug. Any guidance will be much appreciated. God bless you all for the help! :) Best wishes

I can help you. The N32G455 is an ARM Cortex-M4, but it is not a direct STM32 clone; the Device ID will cause the ST-Link software to reject the connection. To fix this, you should use OpenOCD or the official Nations MCU "NS-Link" utility rather than ST-Link Utility. The pinout you described (CLK/DIO) is standard SWD. If the ST-Link V3 still fails to "see" the chip, you likely need to pull the Reset pin low manually during the connection phase (Connect Under Reset) because the firmware may have repurposed the SWD pins as GPIO. The hidden hurdle is Readout Protection (RDP). If this chip is from a commercial product, the RDP is likely set to Level 1 or 2. If it's Level 1, the memory will appear as zeros or trigger a fault upon reading. I can guide you through checking the Option Bytes first to determine if a dump is physically possible before you waste time on wiring.

Hello there, thank you for reaching out with your query regarding dumping the memory of Nation MCU N32G455REL7. I understand your need to identify the BDM pinout and the reset pin for the MCU, and your attempts with the STLinkV3 for debugging. I have experience in working with similar MCU models and can provide you with guidance on how to proceed with this task. Your project is important, and I look forward to assisting you in achieving your goals. Thank you for considering my expertise. Best wishes and God bless! Regards, Daniel

Hey Hi, I have hands-on experience working with ARM Cortex-M MCUs, including STM32 and similar architectures, and I can definitely help you with dumping memory and debugging the N32G455REL7. From your description, the pinout (GND, CLK, DIO, 3.3V) strongly suggests a SWD interface, similar to STM32. However, Nation MCU (N32 series) often requires: Proper SWD pin mapping (SWCLK, SWDIO, NRST) Correct debug configuration/toolchain support Possible handling of read protection (RDP) or security features I can guide you step-by-step on: Correct wiring & identifying reset/debug pins Using ST-Link (or alternative tools if required) Checking/debugging connection issues Attempting safe memory readout (if not protected) I’ve worked on embedded debugging, firmware extraction basics, and low-level MCU interfacing, so I can troubleshoot this efficiently. Looking forward to helping you solve this. Best regards, Bishnu Thakur
