We are an independant shop that needs a point of sale program to match our needs.
Our shop sells goods on behalf of the general public, the process is as follows.
A member of the public wishing to sell a 3 piece suite would come to the shop and register as a seller and open a selling account. They would then pay a display fee for the item they want to sell, which would put the item in the shop for a period of 30 days. If their item sells during the 30 day period then we take a 30% commission and the remaining money is paid back to the seller. If the item does not sell during the 30 days then the seller can remove the item or can put it in the shop for another 30 days but they have to pay an additional display fee. The display fees are variable depending on the size of the item they are selling. The sellers are asked to give a price range that they would be prepared to accept for their goods, the item they are selling starts at the highest price when it first comes into the shop and then can be reduced through the 30 days untill it sells, or a potential buyer can offer a lower price than the price on the item and we need to be able to see what the lowest figure the seller is prepared to accept. We need each seller to have a unique seller number and each item they are selling to have a unique number, these combine to make a barcode which should be built into the price label for attaching to their item. As a number of sellers bring in multiple items then we need to keep a database and inventory of their details and the goods they have sold and are selling. We charge for delivery and pick up of goods and we also charge for storage of goods so we need a facility to input these charges to the system.
We need to print off weekly sales sheets for each seller so that we can pay out for goods that have sold.
Occasionally sellers donate their goods that have not sold to the shop that we then sell on. We need to be able to indicate this on the inventories and sales sheet.
The shop also buys some goods from auction and re-sells them in the shop we need to be able to enter these items into the shop inventory. At the moment we are working with excel cash spreadsheets, a seperate access database and a seperate accountancy program we are inputing the same data at least 3 times. We want a system that means that we are only inputing the data once and will generate all the accounts and reports needed for our business. We have a website so would like to link our stock inventory with picture facility to the website, we take payment by cash, creditcard and as we sell online we use paypal and bank transfer from amazon. We allow buyers to put deposits on goods and they can pay in instalments but they will pay interest if they buy the goods this way.
We need the software to generate reports for sellers whose display fees have run out after 30 days with contact details so we can call them to find out what they want to do with their goods. we use a barcode scanner so would need this facility, the program would run as part of a small local [url removed, login to view] are in the united Kingdom so the system has to work in GBP
