Freelance Fabric Weaver Needed

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced freelance weaver to create approximately 30 yards of custom fabric. The primary material considered is a 5/4 mercerized cotton, with a 16 ends per inch (epi) basket or leno weave. However, we are open to professional advice on other suitable fabric options that meet our project's requirements. The ideal yarn should be cotton or linen )or blend) strong but not coarse, able to withstand heavy abrasion, and grown and spun in North America. The finished textile should be a single color, with only the weft visible. It must also be sturdy enough to stand up when held, rather than wilt. Project Details: Fabric Type: 5/4 organic mercerized cotton (or other suggested yarn) Weave Type: 16 epi basket or leno weave Quantity: Approximately 30 yards Purpose: To create sturdy, yet smooth fabric, offering greater durability and a softer feel compared to standard market cotton or linen fabrics. Responsibilities: -- Weave a few swatches of fabric using different yarns for each -- Weave the specified amount of the custom fabric selected from swatches according to the provided specifications -- Provide professional insights and recommendations on fabric types and weave structures that can achieve the desired quality and durability -- Ensure high-quality craftsmanship and consistency in the fabric production -- Communicate regularly to update on progress and address any questions or concerns Requirements: -- Proven experience in fabric weaving, particularly with custom and sturdy weaves -- Proficiency in working with cotton and other durable fibers -- Ability to offer informed advice on fabric selection and weaving techniques -- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality results -- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently - Knowledge of textile durability: Understanding of how to produce textiles that can withstand heavy abrasion and frequent use. - North American yarn sourcing: Familiarity with locating and sourcing yarn grown and spun in North America. - Loom proficiency: Skilled in using looms to achieve consistent weave quality and productivity.
