You are required to identify six different user groups of financial statements, ensuring that both internal and external users are fairly represented. Describe each user group and discuss the purposes for which they use the financial statements.
Obtain the latest four years of the published income statement and balance sheet for two companies listed on the London Stock Market, (preferably operating in the same industry, but not in the following – banking, building society, insurance and estate agents). The year-end reports for the companies should be uploaded with your coursework as an appendices. Marks will be deducted for failure to upload these reports.
Include an analysis and calculations of relevant and specific financial information that reflect both companies’ performance from the perspective of each of the user groups identified. You are required to use graphs and charts to enhance the analysis on the companies.
Your coursework must contain an Introduction and conclusion detailing the results of your analysis. The word count should not exceed 10% of the total stipulated and students will be penalised for failure to keep to this. The word count does not include reference/bibliography and appendices.
