I have a custom-built RTU that now needs a full software stack: the embedded firmware, a Windows-based application server, and a simple setup GUI so field technicians can configure the unit without touching code. Firmware • Runs on our proprietary hardware (32-bit MCU). • Must speak SDI-12 out of the box; keeping the design modular enough to slot in Modbus or other protocols later is a plus. • Handles sensor polling, data buffering, basic diagnostics and secure boot/upgrade over serial or USB. Application Server (Windows) • Receives data packets from one or many RTUs, stores them locally in SQLite or another lightweight database, and exposes a REST API for higher-level systems. • Provides watchdog, logging and remote firmware-upgrade hooks. Setup GUI • Single-installer desktop tool that discovers units, edits their SDI-12 addresses, sets sampling intervals, and pushes new firmware images. • Clean, operator-friendly interface—WinForms, WPF or Electron are all acceptable as long as the final executable is stable on Windows 10/11. Deliverables 1. Source code and compiled binaries for firmware, server and GUI. 2. Pin-to-pin build instructions so my team can reproduce each component. 3. Brief user manual and API reference. I’ll flash and bench-test the first firmware image against our sensors; acceptance is complete when the RTU streams accurate SDI-12 data to the server, the GUI discovers it and I can trigger an over-the-air update without errors.
