Hi there, I have carefully reviewed your Firmware Engineer role for the ESP32-C6 smart insole and understand the key focus areas: native ESP-IDF development, BNO086 IMU integration, ADS1115-based FSR pressure sensing, BQ27441 fuel monitoring, BLE GATT/NimBLE, FreeRTOS signal processing, and low-power optimization. With nearly five years of experience in mechatronics, embedded C/C++, ESP32 systems, sensor integration, BLE, I²C/SPI debugging, FreeRTOS, and hardware bring-up, I can contribute directly to the firmware architecture and help move the product from prototype toward reliable clinical pilots. Please send me a message so we can discuss the current ESP-IDF migration status, hardware revision, and immediate firmware priorities. Best regards, Samuel tshibangu

Hi, excellent choice with the BNO086, especially since it has an integrated motion processor. I have hands-on experience with the BNO085 as well, which we used in an AUV project. I also have extensive experience with ESP32-based systems, and I personally prefer ESP-IDF for production-level development since it provides much better access to the native hardware and FreeRTOS capabilities. I’ve worked extensively with sensor integration, I²C/SPI, ADCs, BLE, FreeRTOS, and hardware-level debugging, so this project is very much aligned with my experience. I’d be happy to discuss how I can contribute to the smart insole firmware development.

Hi, I read through the JD in detail. Built ESP-IDF + FreeRTOS firmware before (TWAI/CAN driver on ESP32-C3, MIT-mode motor control), so the migration off Arduino and the RTOS-level sensor fusion work is familiar territory, not a learning curve. Directly relevant: - I2C peripheral debugging on real hardware (not just datasheet reading) - bus issues, sensor drivers - BLE GATT experience for sensor data streaming - Comfortable with schematics and working alongside a hardware team, since I also do PCB design myself - useful when the ADC noise or I2C issue turns out to be a hardware problem, not firmware Happy to start with the BNO086/ADS1115 driver layer first so you can validate the approach before the BLE and power-management pieces. Can share firmware writeups from past sensor/motor projects if useful. Open to discussing scope and timeline.

I am an experienced embedded firmware engineer with over 8 years of expertise in low-power architecture, RTOS, and driver development for constrained wearable and mobile platforms. Why I am a good fit Native ESP-IDF & FreeRTOS: Proven background developing production-grade C/C++ firmware, task scheduling, and state-machine architecture. Sensor Integration & Bus Debugging: Extensive experience writing drivers and debugging hardware interfaces (I2C/SPI) for complex sensor suites (IMU sensor fusion, ADCs, and power gauges). Power Management & Connectivity: Strong track record in duty-cycling, low-power sleep state transitions Key Technical Questions: Sampling Rate & BLE Bandwidth: What target sampling frequencies are required for the BNO086 IMU (SHTP) and the 32-channel FSR matrix simultaneously. Current Migration & Hardware Stability: How much of the existing Arduino prototype codebase has been decoupled for native ESP-IDF, and are there any active I2C bus contention or ADC noise challenges across the multiplexed FSR channels during hardware bring-up?

Your JD is specific, so three technical notes instead of adjectives. 32-channel FSR matrix: ADS1115 exposes only four I2C addresses, so 32 single-ended channels means eight devices - a TCA9548A mux or a second bus. That choice sets per-channel rate: one ADS1115 at 860 SPS round-robining four channels gives ~215 Hz each, comfortable for gait-phase detection; eight devices behind one mux is not, unless the scan is pipelined. Which way did your hardware go? BNO086: SHTP over I2C, and I would let the sensor's own fusion produce the rotation vector rather than re-implementing fusion on the MCU - it frees the C6 for the pressure pipeline and keeps timing deterministic. BLE: 32ch x 2 bytes x 100 Hz is ~6.4 kB/s sustained. Fine over NimBLE on the C6's 2M PHY, but only with batched notifications and a negotiated MTU - one notify per sample collapses against the connection interval. This is where insole projects usually stall. The rest: ESP-IDF FreeRTOS tasks with one owner per bus, light sleep plus duty-cycled ADCs for the power budget, BQ27441 for real state of charge instead of voltage guessing, and architecture documented as it is written - IEC 62304 wants lifecycle evidence produced during development, not reconstructed before an audit. I am an electronics engineer, so I read schematics rather than asking for a wiring photo, and I take I2C and ADC noise seriously during bring-up. Is the Arduino firmware functional and being ported, or is this a clean ESP-IDF start?
