I'm looking for a an experienced Flash/ActionScript 3.0 developer with good design skills (and at least 5 years experience plus a good portfolio) to help complete a website.
There are two flash applications and a flash widget that I need developing. The applications are to display weather data. I will provide you with test data in XML form.
The first application is the most complicated. It displays detailed weather data over a 5 day period. There are 26 times and corresponding data to display in total.
The weather data is the same format for all 26 times. These are:
[Temperature in Celsius]
[cloud cover] = This will be provided in text, e.g., 'very windy'
[wind speed(mph)/direction] = I can provide you with N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW icons if necessary
[The type of weather] = Again, provided in text format, e.g. 'sunny', 'sunny intervals', 'rain' ect..
[Weather description] I will explain this in detail to the winning bidder.
[Weather comment] Again, all will be explained (I'm not asking you to build in a comment function).
[Icon ID (29 icons provided)] = Each icon is numbered, the number provided corresponds with the weather icon. E.g., icon 5 = "[url removed, login to view]"
The 26 times:
1. 12am day 1 (midnight)
2. 3am day 1
3. 6am day 1
4. 9am day 1
5. 12pm day 1 (afternoon)
6. 3pm day 1
7. 6 pm day 1
8. 9pm day 1
9. 12am day 2 (midnight)
10. 3am day 2
11. 6am day 2
12. 9am day 2
13. 12pm day 2 (afternoon)
14. 6pm day 2
15. 12am day 3 (midnight)
16. 6am day 3
17. 12pm day 3 (afternoon)
18. 6pm day 3
19. 12am day 4 (midnight)
20. 6am day 4
21. 12pm day 4 (afternoon)
22. 6pm day 4
23. 12am day 5 (midnight)
24. 6am day 5
25. 12pm day 5 (afternoon)
26. 6pm day 5
The data is updated daily by the Met Office. It is also worth mentioning that this is a viral website (all will become clear to the winning bidder). My initial though is some sort of slider for the main flash app. Although it's up to you what you think will work best (you will see what I mean when I show the beta site), I want the time, cloud, wind, weather type and description/comment to be show in same way for each of the 26 times. As mentioned earlier, the weather data will be in XML format. I'm not an XML expert, but I can alter the layout to meet your needs.
The second flash application is the simplest. All it does is display a 5 day weather summary for a specified location. It uses 5 weather icons for each day (out of 29). Each icon is accompanied with a day, a one line weather summary (e.g. 'sunny intervals', 'light showers' ect...) as well as minimum and maximum temperatures for each of the 5 days. I already have this application setup and working using jQuery, however, due to browser compatibility issues I would like it as a flash application. I will also need a button or a link that converts the temperature for both the 5 day and summary app between Fahrenheit and Celsius. This is crucial
As for the widget, it will work very much the same as the 5 day summary app, except it will be limited to three days and contains a "Widget provided by [url removed, login to view], get a 5 day weather forecast for your area here" watermark. I will also need a vertical and horizontal version. As with the other two apps, the data will be be provided by an external XML link. I will code a setup wizard where the user chooses if they want their widget to be vertical or horizontal. Step 2 would be entering a postcode or location to determine the URL of the XML file, and step3 would be deciding if they wanted their location/Postcode shown in the widget. If they do, then there location details will be provided in a flash parameter, or if they don't, the parameter will be left empty and the location details not displayed. However, how this works is up to you. The widget will need the option to show the weather in Fahrenheit and Celsius. This will first be established during the setup process (and included in a flash variable), but also as a button on the flash app it's self.
I would want the source code for all the apps and also for the developer to be available to make any small changes if necessary. I don't plan on there being any major changes, and I know my way around flash/ActionScript quite well. But should I need your help with a small change, I would appreciate it if you were available to help out.
I'm looking to pay the winning bidder $400 o.n.o
