This project is to deliver the animation required for an iPhone application called Pocket Coach.
Pocket coach is a dynamic coaching reference tool for junior sports coaches. Targeted towards the novice who’s new to coaching and likes the concept of electronic lesson plans on an iPhone. Activities are explained using simple to understand instructions, diagrams and computer animation. I feel it’s the animation that will interest the coach, giving them a visual representation of the activity.
Coaches view a lesson plan, read the activity and have the option to click on a button to see an animation of the activity. Creating this animation is the core of this project.
The big picture plan is to create 25 applications, that’s for 5 different sports (to start) and for each sport, there are 5 age groups. We’re still working on the design, since there might be some in-app purchase. Either way, the animation requirement will be the same.
For each application there are 30 animations. This is calculated from 6 weeks of lesson plans with 5 activities per lesson plan. Each animation is basic stickman image with about 9 seconds of animation. Draft diagrams for the 30 animations will be provided.
For the scope of this project, you’ll need to deliver 30 animations. In the future, there will a need to deliver animations for the other 24 applications but this is out of the scope of this project.
Firstly, I know nothing about animation, apart from the fact that iPhones and Flash don’t mix! When you respond to this tender, feel free to suggest better ways to deliver the solution.
Since the iPhone app is going to be a framework, the data, images and animations are going to be sitting in a database and referenced from the application.
As mentioned above, it needs to be developed for an iPhone and also an iPad, thus images need to be of high quality. I’m not sure if there would be 2 versions, low resolution for iphone (fast to load) and high res for iPad. I’ll leave that with you.
In the future, the app could be hosted on other smartphones.
If possible, it would be nice to have the option (app user settings) to select the colour of the stickman. This is since some sports are girls (pink) and others are boys (blue) or unisex (green) or whatever colour the coach likes.
Attached is a requirements document. This app is my first animation app posted on this website. For this reason, i want more than just a quote, please comment on requirements. Once I've selected a provider, we'll chat more. I have over 15 years experience in the IT so I should be a good customer to have...although out of it in the last 5 years. I'm based in Australia and work most nights to midnight so always online 18hrs/day
