We call “event” : a type (text, taken from a limited list), a title, a date if the event is pinpoint, a beginning date and an ending date if the event lasts several days or more, a text (description of the event), a relevance level (1=low, 2=medium, 3=high), a state (text, taken from a limited list) and an URL address.
The module produces a timeline which displays the six current months, starting 3 months in the past and ending three months in the future. User can scroll timeline to go back or further in time.
All events belonging to the period shown by the timeline are displayed on the timeline in a shortened version : only a small icon representing the event type (each type is related to an icon), the first 20 letters of the title and a small icon representing the event state (each state is related to an icon) are displayed. Pinpoint events are shown as a pin on the timeline, and the others are shown as a bar as long as the duration of the event. If there is no ending date, the bar goes till the end of the timeline. Events of higher relevance are emphasized by a red frame (a black frame is used for low relevance events and an orange frame is used for medium relevance events).
If the user clicks on an event, a detailed view of the event appears. This detailed view displays all the data of the event and the http link that leads to the web page of the event. The user can close the detailed view of an event by closing it or by opening another one.
Option : user car filter the timeline by event type, event state or event relevance in order to view less events at the same time.
