I allocate inside a Firestore transaction keyed on user plus milestone, so a retry is a no-op and inventory never double-deducts. Smaller trap: Razorpay signs webhooks as HMAC-SHA256 over the raw body, so the function must verify the raw payload rather than parsed JSON or signatures fail intermittently.
