I am the creator of the 50 Things to Know Books. I am looking for someone to write 4,000 words on a topic that interests you but has a broad audience. For example a self help topic. Examples:
50 Things to Know to Live a Stress Free Life
50 Things to Know to Get a Job
50 Things to Know to Meditate
Or one you suggest. The topic needs to be something you have done and care about.
Here is an example of past work on 50 Things to Know Before Having a Baby.
1. Write Down Questions
During the week you may have many medical questions but when you get to the Doctor’s office you may forget them during your 10-minute appointment. Since the Doctor may tell people the same thing many times a day, they may forget to tell you something. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You may think they are embarrassing, but they are not.
2. Take a Parenting Class
Ask your doctor about parenting classes in your area. I found a free class at a local hospital. Your support person can learn how to help you be more comfortable during labor. I started my classes around week 25. The best part of the class was watching a new infant being washed for the first time. This class helped with some of our fears. If you cannot make it to a parenting class watching parenting videos with our support person before birth may help with the process.
3. Remember You Need to Give a Urine Sample
Remember to not go the bathroom before going to the doctor since they may need a sample every time you have an appointment. This may become easier by the end of your pregnancy since you may have to pee every 10 minutes. Using the other hand to direct the stream may be helpful when you can't see your lady parts because of your large belly.
4. Educate Yourself on Cervix Checks
Before you have your baby they may start to check your cervix during Doctors’ appointments. If your body does not start to change this could be very painful. These checks are not required. Research cervix checks to make an educated decision about your choice.
5. Understand Gestational Diabetes
There is a 1-hour and 3-hour blood sugar test you need to take to make sure your blood sugar does not go up because of pregnancy. You may be given something to eat or drink with sugar. I had an orange liquid that tasted with like flat soda. They then test your blood sugar by drawling blood. If you fail the one-hour test, which I did, you take the three hour test. This consists of getting your blood drawn, then drinking the liquid, then waiting an hour for another blood draw. Repeat getting your blood drawn two more times after an hour. The good news is I passed the second screening.
