I want to write a short story about my grandmother who died from covid 3 days ago.
I want to write about her fight with covid and her strength the reason why I want to put this story out is because I want to raise funds so I can get her home back in Afghanistan and fulfil her wish.
2 years ago she lost her son to war, when he died he had a lot of debt and all the people came for her, she had no choice but to lease her house so she can pay some of the debt which resulted in her leaving her home of 50 years.
She came to London so we can look after her but she left her soul in Afghanistan, everything was nee to her everyday I use to see her look out the window for hours and when I use to ask her why she use to say that she is thinking how she will decorate her home when she goes back because she has new ideas from here. Her only dream was to go back get the house back and live there with her eldest son who is very poor.
She waiters for her visa, her visa came but her card took some time, she ended up getting covid, while in hospital her card came I use to FaceTime her and tell her she will finally get to visit her country again and see her sons grave and I will help her get her home back so she has to keep fighting. She kept saying to bring her home she is tired she gets thirsty but doesn’t know how to ask for water, needs help with toilet but doesn’t know how to ask, she gets cold no one covers her because she can’t herself and doesn’t know how to ask but I couldn’t bring her home because they kept saying don’t take her chance away. She kept saying if you don’t bring me home I will die here but I kept saying if you don’t fight it means you don’t love me promise on my life you will fight and wear the cpap mask and from that day onwards she wore the mask and became quiet for me. But everytime I could see it in her eyes asking me to bring her home but no words just smiling. Suddenly one day they said she has few hours and someone can be with her, I was all alone in hospital crying but I waited I didn’t go in because I wanted my aunt to see her, my aunt went in I was outside her door she called me and my grandmother spoke to me and said you are here to take me to my home get my paper work done quickly so I can go, I said ok I’m doing it now, then she said I will be ok as long as you guys are ok. She passed away 2 hours later, I managed to go in the room and my aunt came out which was a miracle I prayed on her body and asked for forgiveness, she was so bruised her fragile body had taken so many needles and pain I cried and cried my heart broken into a million pieces.
Now it’s my duty to fulfil her dream. I want to get help with writing her story l, this I wrote is just the tip of the iceberg. I want to write her story so I can raise funds go Afghanistan and free her home and take her eldest son there to live. I need someone who can write with a lot compassion who can help me really show her character through words, who can show what war does to people, who can show the aching of a soul who wants nothing more but to see her land once again but died with that pain in her heart.
She was the most loving human I had known, even in death she has given me so much, she took with her all the bad things I had in my heart, her kindness and love showed me another world. I ache to hear her tiny quiet voice.
