I posted this job before, but what we wanted was not clear, so I am reposting. We want to publish a magazine, 8 x 10.75 inches, with cover plus 20-24 pages. We need to work with someone who is willing to use Quark (which is what we use for our newspaper) to help layout this magazine. The magazine is a continuation of a previously published magazine, and the layout is straightforward, but there are a lot of photographs (e.g., 2 per page).
We would supply the text and photos, and the coder would supply the quark xpress files that we might modify and tweak. So, the job would be to do the cover design (basically the same cover style for each cover, with title and TOC overlaying some photograph, plus photos on the inside front, inside back, and outside back cover, plus work with us on the layout. We plan to publish this magazine 6 times per year, so it would be a recurring job.
Currently, we don't have all of the material for the first issue. We've come up with a draft cover and have text and photos for several of the pages. We can send previous issues to replicate the design (previous issues were done in Pagemaker) in a more modern publishing system.
In the past bid, many graphic design artist bid, but the job here is more magazine layout than designing new images. Ideally we need someone in the field of publishing (art) books and magazines.
The initial bid would be to do one issue. Tweak the cover design (4 pages) and 20-24 pages of text and photos. The goal is to finish up the first issue by end of October. There is no need for copyediting. We would supply the copyedited final text.
