I currently have a business/hobby designing business cards, and basic print advertising for businesses, but lately I have been receiving requests for more complex projects such as logo design.
I currently have a client who has asked me to design a few things for them, including a brand/logo. I don't have any experience designing brands or logos, so am happy to design all the other projects for this client, and pass the job of the brand/logo design on to another designer.
Once you win the auction, I will forward all emails that I have to date regarding what the client likes and doesn't like for their logo (including examples of logos which have been designed, but they didn't like the style - so you can see what not to do), and I will get you to deal directly with them. I will give you their email address, and them yours, so I will be cut out of this completely (although it is me who is paying you). All I ask is that you don't try and get any other design work out of them as that will be costing me business.
If you are happy to do this, and I get good feedback about you from this client, I would be happy to set up a partnership where I pass jobs such as this onto you whenever I get them (if you are interested).
The client's business is selling t-shirts with funny phrases on them. They are striving to be a fashionable clothing label, and their business name is Paw Attitude (motto is Loyalty Barks), and all their phrases are to do with dogs.
I'll copy and paste some requirements that they have requested in regards to the logo, and I've also attached some shirt designs I have designed for their shirts which they are going to sell so you can see the style they like.
------
Their requests for their logo/brand:
"You can use anything, be it a part of the dog or something that relates to dogs. As long as there is some association it will be more how the design is done than what we use."
"The range of people who will potentially wear this will be wide and probably skew to an older rather than younger demographic. I would envisage that late 20s up to early 40s would be the core range."
"I like very clean and relatively simple."
"I like the style of the [login to view URL] shirts. I dont want to be a copy of this product but the important element here is the style. I want these shirts to be fashionable such that you could wear them out to a classy pub."
"I would like to see a logo to represent the brand - one that would be recognised without the brand wording. Think nike, Timberland, La coste."
"With the font we could use something that looks like scratches, paws have claws and claws scratch. Thought that this may add an element of interest and tie in with the brand."
"Using a specific breed of dog has the potential to alienate owners who dont have that breed. I don't want this."
"I visited "dafont.com" and had a look at the top 100 fonts, the 4 that i liked the most were #14 - Cheri, #18 - hand of sean, #88- Aaaight, #92 - Amterdam grafitti. My thought was the if the name has Attitude in it we should perhaps use a font that also has some attitude to try a convey this feeling. It should be remembered that the overall feel of the brand is not only fashioable but fun. We dont want to get too stiff with the executions - fashionable not formal."
"The clip art site i went to was "clipart.com". I used the key word dog and filtered out B/W and came up with two images that i thought you might like to take a look at. Pg 5 on the second line there is a dog in a pink circle. The dog is a little too cartoonish and the colours are wrong but i liked the idea of a stand alone image that was non specific in breed. With the circle it looked a little like a stamp. On page 14 there is a dog crossed out (the dog not the crossed out execution) Both were simple art of a dog that with the right font style i think would look quite effective."
"I am thinking of the timberland logo which sits next to the brand - maybe we can get a similar effect here. The desire is that the logo is good enough that it can stand alone as an image and still look good - and the ultimate that it is also recognised without the branding. It would be grest to be able to loose all the wording and simply use the logo to represent the brand."
------
Copyright for the logo would also have to be handed over to the business to do with what they want (print as many copies as needed etc).
Thanks for bidding!
